hi guys, could someone please help me or guide me to how I could root my 2.2. Ive tried almost all imaginable ways to root my galaxy s whether using the one click root software, or adding the update.zip manually to my sd card, then go to recovery mode (volume up + on/off + home button), still im getting the same error: signature verification failed!

before this happen, i managed to root my galaxy s when it was still in 2.1. after i made an official update to 2.2 through kies, i started getting "signature verification failed" if i try rooting it.

just to be sure, i attached a screen shot here of my About Phone. I was wondering whether the kernel version that says "root@SE-S604 #1" means that my phone has been rooted already. if ever it has been rooted, why can't i run terminal emulator?

update:

ok, since all of the sites that i visited that talks about shootMe (android app that grabs a screenshot of your android phone) said that shootMe only works with rooted android phone. i tried installing it and run the app to test and check whether my phone's rooting feature has been maintained from my 2.1 to 2.2. and it turns out it did. now my question is, how come i cannot run terminal emulator?

One thing to note is Froyo 2.2 had screen capture enabled. So you doesn't need root to use any 3rd party screen-shot app anymore.

Even without the 3rd party screen capture app, you can screen-shot by holding the "Back" button and pressing the "Home" key.

The kernel version "root@SE-S604 #1", doesn't mean your device is rooted. You can use z4root if you want to root your device and OCLF for lag-fix. Both can be found in Android Market.

Wasn't there something about Market removing rooting programs and that's why Super One Click isn't there and OCLF had to be changed to be on Market?

anyway, Super One click v1.5.5 short fuse worked slick for me.

Its because froyo uses the 3e recovery. You can see it when your in recovery mode near the top. It doesn't allow you to use unsigned zips. So the only way to do so is to use the 2e recovery which allows you to flash unsigned zips.

Thanks for all the feedback but I guess it's a bit too technical for me to understand...

In a nutshell, it's because you're using Froyo.

If you join XDA and download super one click 1.5.5 shortfuse it will root your phone easily. It comes with directions but basically you connect to your computer and run the root from your computer. It reboots and roots without you having to do ... well ... anything.
