Hi...updated to the new Froyo 2.2 Crying i wish I hadn't. Anyways, does anyone know how to remove the message logs from the call log section because it's really annoying me.

Also, does anyone else's samsung galaxy s vibrate 2 or 3 times randomly and then freezes?

Remove them like removing calls. go to log, press the menu softkey , select delete then put check marks besides the messages you want gone and press delete. The messages stay, just the log is deleted.

Mine was vibrating mysteriously until I realized I had set my social hub to vibrate when a new message came in. The freezing part sounds like you either have to pull the battery for a few minutes or do a factory reset. The battery option doesn't get rid of any apps or data.

Thanks but I just don't want the message logs to appear in call logs at all rather than having to delete them myself. It's time consuming and very irritating. Is there nothing in the settings I could change? I can't seem to find a setting for it.

The thing about it vibrating isn't to do with the social hub or anything, it's just when it needs to force close things it vibrates like crazy :s Crying

Sorry to hear the cause of the vibrating. Sounds like you need (another?) factory reset.

You can pick which logs you want to view by pressing the message button (got the tip from XDA). I know with WinMo you could install different diallers but I don't know if you can with android or if it would resolve your problem.

From the dialer you can tap Contact (along the top) > History then tap menu and View By. There you can select what you want to see in your history.

From the dialer you can tap Logs (along the top) > tap the menu button then view by. You will be a pop up with radio buttons to choose what you want to see.

thanks! it works buttt there seems to be anothre fault with the Froyo system. After i deselect what i don't want and then exit the logs then come back to it again, the message logs are there again so every time i must go through this since it doesnt save the settings. Very strange.

I'm having the same issue. (and the one where it vibrates randomly but DOESN'T freeze)

I know how to view the phone logs by:
all logs
missed calls
dialled calls
received calls
sent messages
received messages

But the options i'd like are Missed calls, dialled calls and received calls.

how do i just remove the message options? or select only the phone call options?

still haven't figured this out about how to just view the call logs and not storing message logs.

my phone still does the stupid vibrate thing and then it makes me force close internet or whatever it is that i'm on.

also, it takes forever to switch on. is that that same for everyone? it's stupid because when my battery is low and i switch it off to save battery when i dont have my charger, it takes a lifetime to switch on which wastes so much battery in itself! argh hate the new system

It seems there is no way to not include the message logs with the call logs. Perhaps google thinks that a feature.

Did you do a factory reset after the update? Did you re-install something that doesn't play well with the SGS - some apps don't. I timed my start up and it took 2 m 40 s (kind of explains why I don't hang around while this is going on). Mostly seems to be media scanning but I am starting up LauncherPro, Wave Launcher, Fancy Widgets, Agenda Widget as well.

May I suggest putting your device into airplane mode to save some juice rather than turning it off? I frequently do that when I'm at the gym. I also turn off data if I'm around a computer which also saves juice but allows texts and calls. My ultimate solution was to get a Momax 2700mAh battery so I don't have to turn off stuff.
