Hello everybody!

I bought my Samsung Galaxy S couple of days ago, so I am still learning the device considering that I've switched from Nokia Happy

One thing that I've read in the manual is that the items on the screen can be moved. I've tried moving them, but no luck...could you please spare some minutes and help me out here Happy

Thanks guys!

Welcome:D  Please check out the forum rules. Also check out the how to thread for some great tips or use the search function so see if someone’s asked your question before.

To move icons you just press and hold. You'll see the bin appear on in place of the on screen menu bar then you can just move the icon - you can also move it to another page by pushing it to the edge of the screen. Icons are "snap to grid" so you can't place them just anywhere. Also remember to check if the app has an android widget by touching and holding an empty spot on the screen and selecting from the pop  up menu.

Does it work on any item? I am pressing and holding but I don't get any bin or moving...
For example I've created one folder on tab 5 and I can't move it...

It should, I just put a (new empty) folder on the screen. when I pressed it and held, the waste bin popped up and I could move it around. You can't move your finger while you press though.

If you still can't move stuff, try pulling the battery out, waiting for 5 - 10 seconds then putting it back in and starting up. This will soft reset (you don't loose any data). Sometimes there's a glitch.

OK, now I've managed! I was moving the finger to fast...
Thanks Casz!

One other thing, was is the battery life, with normal use?

EDIT: I think I've made a mistake...hope it's not that big...after buying the phone, I didn't charged it straight away, I used it because the battery was quite full...is that very bad?

My battery life is ok but sometimes it just drains overnight or in my purse. I got a spare that I'll start carrying around. You should do a full charge when you get your phone even though the battery is pretty full. I know, it's hard not to immediately start using it  Smile

Will the fact that I haven't charged straight away influence the battery from now on?

I doubt it. Batteries are much hardier than they used to be. Minimal/no memory, automatically stops charging when full, holds charge when not in use all new in the past few years.

By the way, is it a bad thing for the screen if I use screen protection?

@alintatoc: there are never adverse affects when using a protective screen shield. Reduced screen sensitivity is not noticeable, and you won't get any lasting scratches. I'd say, go for it.

I got a gadgetshieldz. Much less expensive than the invisible shield and better screen feel for me. Just make sure to follow instructions:)

According to reports, Norhern Europe was the first to receive Froyo! Did you check with your KIES installation (with the phone connected to it) ?
