Hi,

this is a small tutorial for using Titanium Backup to back up your data.

First make sure your phone is rooted.
- Install Titanium Backup.
- Tap on the middle menu item - Backup/restore
- Tap menu
- Tap Batch
- Tap on the "run" next to "backup all user apps" (Not "system data")
- wait untill it's finshed.
- Now update to a ROM.
- Setup your phone, especially it's wifi.
- Sign-in to your google account.
- download TB again, from the Market.
- run TB and tap on "Backup/restore"
- tap menu
- tap batch
- tap on the "run" next to "restore missing apps with data"
- now depending on whether you paid for the pro version or not you either have to sit there restoring your apps one by one or they'll restore one after the other automatically.
- that's it.

Do apps backup include the settings saved for those apps, or are they backed up separately (i.e. is there an option to backup user data)?
Is it fine to save system data for restorations to the original status prior to backup?

As i wrote: '- tap on the "run" next to "restore missing apps with data"'
Example: you are using Go Launcher EX.  you have did a backup of this launcher:
menu>preferences>Backup/Restore>Back Up Settings. You did a backup using TB,too.
You flashed a new rom. You downloaded TB (Pro) from Market and restored the apps. with data.
You set up your launcher as Go Launcher Ex. Then menu>preferences>Backup/Restore>Restore configuration.
You'll get all the screens with apps. back.

No backup system data!

Thanks.

I asked about 'saving user data' because I wasn't sure if saving user apps does include their respective app data.  Yes, some do, like Go Launcher and ADW Launcher, but not sure about other user apps, like WidgetLocker, Feeds, Widget settings, etc., which don't have options to save settings.  So I'm not sure if backing up these apps in TB include their settings.  Although when I did (ex. Widget Locker), they didn't have the settings restored so I had to set them up again.

It's not necessary, but recommended.

Hi Saszseb
Thanks for the guide
After flashing semaphore kernel and installing superuser I installed titanium backup.
After starting it for the first time it asked for superuser access and then it showed me the features and changelog
After that it said " Warning- System Configuration  Your system settings may cause problems. To correct this go to your phones settings, and then in applications then in development and tick the USB debugging checkbox"

What is this for ??
What should I do???

Thanks

Just check on your phone- settings> you need to tick/select (unknown sources) & (usb debugging).. I had same message, it will go once you have checked the two..
unknown sources allows download of 3rd party apps.. usb debugging more for development purposes..but theatres what TB notification relates to..

After flashing Semaphore kernel, you musn't install Superuser from Market, because your ROM has been rooted.

Here's a question... Where is the backup stored?
Best Screen Protector

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS take advantage of having Google on your phone! Save all contacts to GMail and they never get lost, wiped, replaced etc.

Titanium Backup for apps and data. SMS Backup & Restore for messages.

If you have any questions, please do a search before posting a new thread and if you can't find anything, then try to put the new thread into the correct forum.

GT-I9000
Android Version 4.0.4
CyanogenMod version 9.1.0 (20120916)
Kernel version 3.0.8
