where are the notes stored?

There is a "notebook" on the Galaxy and I wrote a very important text on it. But then I tried to copy it to my pc and failed. I used the search function to scan the "detachable drive" for any file containing a certain word in the text, but nope!
Eventually I solved the problem by marking the whole text and then copied and pasted it to my email and sent it to myself. But shouldn't there be an easier way to do it?
