It doesn't work with my galaxy S 4G!!!

As soon as I press the back button, no matter if I hold it, the app I'm running goes to the previous screen.. anyway, if after holding down the back button I press/tap the Home button, nothing happens. There's no "screen capture" or photo whatsoever folder on the SD card!

Please help!! Crying

I did read page 1. I tried everything mentioned here and still can't get a screenshot. Unless I'm doing it wrong.

Basically I just need to hold the back button and press the home button (i guess when you mention the 'middle button' you're referring to the home button). I tried it, won't work. Then I tried double tapping home button (while pressing back). Nothing. I tried back button+power button, no luck. I know there's a way by installing some SDK and stuff but I don't want to do that.. maybe someone can see what I'm doing wrong.

phone: galaxy S 4g (SGH-T959V) with froyo 2.2.1. no rooting, nothing.

Back + Home buttons does not work for the 4G.

Unless you're willing to root your device, SDK is your only choice.

On the Samsung Galaxy S Variant (Fascinate and Mesmerize aka sch-i500), the way you would do a screen capture is holding the back key until you feel a haptic feedback vibration then hitting the power key, a notification that you have done a screen capture will appear.  I will post some of my phones screenshots.

Not for the Vibrant.

I know, that's why I said this was taken from my Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate (sch-i500).  The Mesmerize does the same thing as the Fascinate too.

I think it depends on what ROM you are on.
As having been on stock/custom ROM based on Gingerbread 2.3.3. I could use "Back +Home".
But now being on CM7 ROM I can't use the button combo. I use "ShotMe" app. from Market.
I shake my phone and get a screenshot.

I use screen capture from the market. The free version allows you to put an icon on the notification area, and take a screenshot from there. You can set a timer, from 0sec (instant) up to 15sec of delay before taking the screenshot. I set it to 1sec, go to the screen I want to take the screenshot from, and then slide the notification area, click de screenshot button and wait til the screenshot is taken.

You don't need a rooted device for this, and it works really really well. The pro/donate version allows to take screenshot with just shaking the phone, but for now, its just great to take it from the notification area.

The Galaxy S is the only Android phone that offers Screen Capture or Screen Shotting without Rooting.

Hey all.

I've been able to screenshot since 2.3.3 using the back and home button. The screenshots are saved in the SD memory.

Now on Darky 10.2 and literally just did a screenshot:

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS take advantage of having Google on your phone! Save all contacts to GMail and they never get lost, wiped, replaced etc.

Titanium Backup for apps and data. SMS Backup & Restore for messages.

If you have any questions, please do a search before posting a new thread and if you can't find anything, then try to put the new thread into the correct forum.

In Froyo you are able to take ScreenShots by just pressing the Back + Home button after eachother!

Then your SGS will automatically save your screen to SDcard - ScreenCapture Wink Wink

Easy Peasy!  Cool

So THAT'S how I did it without knowing how I did it!!!  So easy... Smile
