i recently update my os to gingerbread (2.3.4) and now i am getting numbers on the green messaging icon that is in the tool bar. i use handcent sms for my messaging and would ultimately like to change that shortcut to the handcent but my problem is that i do not want the numbers to show up (they are numbers telling how many new texts there are). I have the notofications turned off in the settings but that doesnt work. any help here would be appreciated.
