i found that the ebook reader reads .epub files so i downloaded a bunch off the internet to my PC now i cant work out how to add them to the phone. Any ideas? (already tried using the Kies software that came with the phone but it tells me that they are invalid files to move to the phone)

Well maybe just transfer them via external memory so not the Kies software and play it when on the phone;)

I put all my e-books on the SD card and they were found. What reader are you using? It may be the reader that needs to have your books downloaded from your on-line library.

Use Aldiko, it scans your sd card and adds them. Had no problems.

I'm using Kobo, ereader and AEPReader (darned Mobi) All work seamlessly and so does PDF reader.

Update - after reading your tip about Aldiko I down loaded it. I had downloaded Kindle for android and couldn't get my webscriptions books to import. Aldiko imported them very nicely. The first time I used dropbox to transfer and the second I connected my device and just downloaded straight to my sdcard into a folder named ebooks/import.

Quick review: Kobo reader (and I did update) paused with page turns while Kindle and Aldiko are more responsive. All have the "night" version which I like better. Kindle is very tied in to book store as are Kobo and ereader but Kindle has the most books. A lot of books I had purchased from ereader are no longer listed as available for purchase although I can still download them. The downside of ereaders is that even though you've purchased a book from one store you may not be able to read it with a reader from another store. OTOH, reader software is small and free.

I am using Aldiko and have had no problems loading books using the import function BUT! I would really like to know if anyone has sussed how to delete books from Aldiko properly. If i just delete the epub file I get left with a blank cover on the Aldiko shelf and a 'no file found' message when I select it - annoying to say the least - really want a neat and suresafe way of deleting the book from aldiko. Anyone got any clues?

Hey dont worry galaxy S'ers - found out how - you display the books in a list - not n a shelf and then do a 'long press' on the bookname  (not the cover image) and you get the option to delete the book . Good stuff - now to clean up the library.

I'm a huge fan of iReader.  Loved the customisable fonts, size, margins colours etc.  I only use Aldiko for epub, but in the next major version of iReader it will support ePub, then I will ditch Aldiko forever.  When you import epub books it moves the files into it's directory structure, very annoying if you are using a mix of txt, mobi, and epub files.  I cannot stand the page transitions in Aldiko, the fonts don't render properly with spill over on the top an bottom of the page from the adjacent pages.  Color selection is far too cumbersone.  That nightmarish bookshelf and listing features are painful to navigate, only the search function is useful for finding the book I want to read.  I keep hoping for a software update, but as it is in ROM it is only available when Samsung decide to update it.  I understand that they wanted to include a ebook reader, but surely there are better ones available.
