That's strange. If no there's no Wifi or 3G, Calendar is still there, reacting normally as ever. Did you by any chance disable your default "My calendar" ? Go to Calendar, menu key, Settings, Calendars, is My Calendar checked ?
Also, when adding an event, it defaults to My Calendar too, so again, no wifi/3g is no problem. Even if I do manually set it to my Google calendar (option when adding an event), I still have no problems about Google nagging for login. It just syncs the next time there's an available connection.

Hay: I have exactly the same problem. Can't access calendar at all. No menu settings come up either, just login screen for google account when I press 'Calendar'
I've emailed Samsung on how to acccess standard calendar. Will post reply here if I get a favorable response.

I hope this can be solved!!

How about just register for a Google account and use it just to set it up ? After that, it doesn't matter what you do, you can save locally (My Calendar) by default, and the Google login won't ever bother you again, no matter if you're offline/3G or Wifi.

Thing is I don't have internet access.

Samsung replied that I can set up any other account (facebook etc) and create an email and then the calendar will work.
However without internet access, I can't do this. Therefore the calendar won't work. Not a very good system. The calendar is an important function on a smartphone, you should not have to go online in any form just to be able to use it!.

Have emailed Samsung a second time. Will post reply here.

Why not go to an internet cafe and use wifi to access the internet if you don't have a data?

I managed to log on by a friend and create my google account.
I can now access the Calendar.

Here is Samsung's latest response:

"Thank you for contacting Samsung and I have pleasure in providing the
following assistance.

Regarding your case, kindly note that unfortunatly this is a limitation
of Android, you won't be able to access the Calendar unless you submit
ur google account.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. "

So now you can set your google calendar to not sync (under settings > accounts and sync) then just save stuff on the local calendar (happens by default)

I use APNDroid to shut off data use and it works very well.
