Easiest way is to activate mass storage in usb settings. With that setting, your pc will see your phone as a removable storage device, if you connect with the cable, and you will have access to your phones memory from which you can simply drag and drop to and from the pc.

If you're using 2.1 (eclair),

1. Disconnect your USB cable from your phone.
2. Go to Settings > About phone > USB Settings > Mass Storage
3. Connect your USB cable to your phone.
4. Wait for your Windows to download the drivers (if it's your first time connecting)
5. When the drivers are installed, pull down Notification menu, click on the thing that allows you to Mount your phone and Mount (not sure what it's called).
6. After a few seconds, a Removable Disk (mine is L:, not sure what yours is) should appear and you can open the files and drag and drop stuff from your PC to your phone or vice versa.

If you're using 2.2 (froyo),

1. Disconnect your USB cable from your phone.
2. Go to Settings > Wireless and network > USB Settings > Mass Storage
3. A screen should appear with an Android logo with an option to Connect USB, click it.
4. Wait for your Windows to download the drivers (if it's your first time connecting)
5. After a few seconds, a Removable Disk (mine is L:, not sure what yours is) should appear and you can open the files and drag and drop stuff from your PC to your phone or vice versa.

To check if you're using 2.2 or 2.1, go to Settings > About phone and check the Firmware Version.

Hope it helps Big Smile

eclair is 2.1; froyo is 2.2

Age is not excuse. I just turned 50 last Tuesday and I can figure it out. Think of it as brain training  Big Smile

It's their codenames. The next few updates, 2.3 is codenamed 'Gingerbread' and 3.0 is codenamed 'Honeycomb'.

New Fascinate owner.  Very frustrated.  Have been trying to get my PC to recognize the phone, but it's just not happening.  I've got 2.1-upate1

Got to here - got drivers downloaded to computer.  But stuck here:

Thanks in advance for assistance!

The notification menu is the band across the top of your phone screen. Put your finger on it and the date should show. Then drag your finger down the screen and you'll have a full grey screen. Press the USB icon. It should ask if you want to mount the drives (or something to that effect) Press the button and your drives should become accessible from your computer.

Good to hear:) Sometimes there is an assumption of a level of knowledge that gets frustrating.

I mistakenly thought I was pretty savvy; but couldn't find instructions anywhere or figure this out myself;  I knew what it was supposed to do, but even after reading the online manual, several pages of forums, playing with the phone for hours I couldn't get it -- thank goodness for your help!!

I feel your pain, I came over from WinMo where I was pretty savvy but was lost with Android. Even trying to get swype to work was hard. Luckily I had belonged to the Samsung Omnia sister forum so just came over here for help Smile

Hi there, I followed your tips last week before going on holiday. It was the first time I downloaded pics from the Samsung so it also installed the drivers. all fine and all pics downloaded.

I came back from holiday and doing the process again but it doesn't download anything not even showing the file L when ready to be on PC. What is it I am doing wrong? Thanks

ps: not computer savy here but learning  Angel
