Hi there,
I tried using APN on/off widget and APNdroid, but none of them seems to work. The H/3G symbols are still there, and the arrows occasionally switches to red/green. If I try go on the net (with wifi off) it works like normal. For APNdroid I also tried with checked "Disable all APNs".
Have I missed the point in some way?

EDIT: Seems to work fine after using  3.0 version from the net site instead of the version at android market

to disable 3g go to: settings>wireless & network>mobile networks>network mode>GSM only

There are posts in this item that are examplary for the rest of the world, Thanx a lot.

I still have one observation: what is the influence of an update of Android to 2.2 on the power consumption?

New battery record for my SGS with specifications from this topic:

116h30min
-long talks with gf (you know how girls are)
-about 250 sms
-updates on the wether
-basic surfing on the internet and market
-work friend playing & drooling over my phone in the morning.

Unfortunately, i get about 30h less with 3G instead of 2G  Sad

From my tests over 1 month, on 2G i get battery for 90-116h and with 3G for 70h

I've gotten good results with the Juice Defender (and Ultimate Juice paid add on) apps.

They include a whole wack of custom settings but I just use the no-brainer default setting which manages your wifi and 3G connection quite effectively - turns them off when you turn the screen off and fires them back up when you activate it.

It's pretty useful for me because I often keep my phone beside me on my desk and pick it up randomly throughout the day to fiddle with it... so it takes away the effort of disabling the data connections and yet ensures that they're working when you need them.
