Some times when I want to operate the navigator I am not getting the GPS, looks like that another program is shutting the GPS. How can I controll the GPS on/off?

I think this is a bug of the Galaxy S. I found that turning off then back on the GPS from the settings / Location and Security / Use GPS satellites works. Restart your navigation application right after.

OK, I have found a way, I operated the Android Power Control wigdet and there is an on/off for the GPS.

And since I updated my SGS to JM1, I don't have GPS problems anymore. Happy

I noticed if I'm not using a program that uses GPS out goes dormant even though it's on. Is this what you mean our do you mean it turns off while you are using a map program?

No, I wanted an ON/OFF switch for the Mobile Network and the "APNdroid" just works fine, I want it as I have just 30KB in the contract.
By the way, GPS and Wifi does not work together the phone stucks up.

Now I'm asking what you mean that the GPS and WiFi don't work at the same time? Mine do. At home I'm on WiFi and I can turn on GPS apps (that do shows the satellites).

That's not good to hear. It's a strange problem, because I have Bluetooth on THE WHOLE time (because I don't like to keep the phone to my ears, so I have a headset), and regularly turn Wi-Fi on and off.
If you didn't install any shady software, it might be a hardware problem (sadly, it has to go back to a service point). If you did install a lot of strange software, it might be time for a reset to factory default.

ok, seems like not everyone is understanding the question here, but from where I see it, you want to shut off GPS so that you don't use up your 30kb contract all in one go.

GPS doesn't use the internet, it uses Satellites, so unless you've got some weird contract, it shouldn’t cost anything to use the GPS. Thant being said, for some Map applications, the maps needs to be downloaded, so unless you are hooked up to WiFi, that will cost you.

As for an on/off switch for data networks, I just press the power button for a short time, and Select "Data Network Mode" and set it to off, that prevents me from using the 3G network. (2.2 on a rooted GT-I9000M)
