Check the default ports used by K9 for setting up email. When I had that problem, it was that simple. Copy the port value into social hub or whatever other email client you want to use.

I am glad to find this thread.  I started having the same problem with my default email app on 11/24.  Here is my tale of woe and I am still searching for a solution.  Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I have had my phone for about 4 months and the email has been working flawlessly until recently.

I have 5 different email accounts set up in my Galaxy - 2 Yahoo, 1 GMail, 1 company, and the main one I use, and have been using for over 10 years is a RoadRunner account.  On the 24th, I stopped receiveing emails on my 2 yahoo accounts and my Roadrunner account.  It was Thanksgiving week.  I had guests.  I was busy.  So I didn't get around to messing with it for a couple of days - Friday the 26th.  I was able to get the yahoo accounts working again by refreshing the settings.  The Roadrunner account is a different story. I spoke with tech support for RoadRunner, AT&T and Samsung.  Roadrunner support confirmed that my settings we correct.  AT&T suggested that I delete the account from the phone and then start over and set the account up again.  I did that but when the phone attempted to verify the settings, I got an error message that simply stated "Connection Error".  The text showed up in a green bar across the top of the page.  It does not give me an error number (something that all the tech support people asked for) - it just said Connection Error.  I tried setting up the account several times, going through the process of trial and error just hoping I could stumble upon the right combination of settings.  No luck.

Finally I spoke with the Samsung tech support and their advice was to find another email app on Market.  I tried one called Secure 9 Mail.  It worked, but I was not impressed by it.  So I uninstalled it and tried K9 which has received good reviews.  K9 works, but I'm not impressed with it either.  The default app worked great and that is what I would prefer.  Can anyone help me get it working the way it did in the first place?  And why would it suddenly stop working?  Could it be that 5 email addresses is to much for it to handle?

Thanks.

Tom

hi Tom

one thing i was told to do was to clear the data and cache from the email app before re entering the settings. i did this and followed Casz recommendation and got it working again. the clear data go to settings-applications-manage apps then need to hit menu and select filter-all, find email app there. let us know if it works.

Dazk:
You are a genius!  I am back in action.  I am guessing that I should clear the cache on this app occassionally.  Am I right?
Thanks,
Tom
