Hi Everyone,
I just updated my SGS last week to Froyo 2.2.
After updating, I can't open Gtalk and Android market.
While opening Gtalk,it is open and close immediatly
For the case of Android market, it showing error msg saying that ' error occured, try later'.

After read throught the forum, I decided to do a factory reset.
Could some some tell me, what are the things will get delete(lose) if i do a factory rest?

Thanks!

Everything on your main memory: Data, Settings, Contacts, Calendar, installed Apps, etc. Basically goes back to the same as when you bought the device new, but with Froyo.

Thanks Omanian!

That case, how i can get rid off the issue without doing factory reset.
If no other choice other than factory reset, how could I back up my Apps and all other files?
Could someone guide through?

Thanks!

Transfer all your data: Photos, Videos, Documents etc to your external SD card. If you don't have SD card, transfer to your PC by following # 17 or 29 on This Topic.

Backup your contacts and calendar to Google or follow # 20 on This Topic.

Applications can be backup by using Astro, IF your'e ROOTED, from the instruction # 22 on This Topic. If not, just write them down and download again after the reset. Purchased apps, from the Market will not be charge again if you're using the same Google account.
For me, I just take screen-shots of all my apps.
To take screen-shots, for Froyo, there's an instruction at the bottom on This First Post.

As for the device settings.....you just have to do them again.

I highly do not recommend uninstalling Google Talk because if you do so, your phone may get issues and explode.

Refer to this:

http://samsunggalaxysforum.com/showthread.php/124-List-of-default-applications-safe-to-uninstall-on-rooted-Galaxy-S

As u know there are some App are installed already when we purchase this phone.

Default apps will not be deleted, only third party apps, those apps that you have downloaded from the Market will be deleted. So like your AMPed, Traffic stuff, and other Singtel stuff won't be deleted but your Angry Birds, Launcher Pro etc. will be gone. If I may ask, why would you want to uninstall your Market app? Is it faulty or outdated?

GOod luck Big Smile

Oh, didn't see that. Haha. I don't know how to uninstall the Market, but you may want to install the latest version. You can find it here: http://www.multiupload.com/B6Y171MCYU.

Just transfer it to your SD card, and run the .apk file from your phone.
Hope it works Happy

The GPS on the Galaxy S is quite buggy and inaccurate and sometimes won't display your location correctly. It affects all or most variants of the Galaxy S. For me, I don't use GPS navigation regularly as I don't drive, but I've used it once and it worked, though my location was sometimes very off (it showed I was swimming in MacRitchie Reservoir).

By the way, I used the Google Maps for directions, not the Navigation app, that doesn't seem to work.

Feel free to ask anymoe questions if you have Big Smile

Sorry for the late reply. Had been busy lately.

No, uninstalling Gtalk, your device will not explode, but it'll need to be rooted to do so. After the reset, Gtalk should work properly.

Market will update itself when there are updates. Don't have to install from any .apk.

For Navigation (only for Singapore & Malaysia), try download NavFone from Samsung Apps. It's free for us...

If you find the GPS is buggy, try # 23. Don't know why, but mine worked just fine without it. Maybe it's because I'm rooted and lag-fixed.

Oh...and the reason I asked about Singtel unit was I thought you might want to remove the branded Singtel startup, shutdown animations and all Singtel applications.
