Unresponsive screen. Black screen.

Hi.  have read previous topics and have carried out the methods used, i.e. power button top and bottom volume buttons and middle bottom.  This got me up and running.  However, after doing what I wanted to do, ie. installing apps and settings etc the screen has gone black and will not respond to anything again.   I have removed the battery again, started up.  I get the samsung screen and the sound then black, then get the lights come on left and right on the bottom, then nothing.

I try to get it going again by touching the power button repeatedly for short durations and sometimes this gets the graphic up where I can swipe.  It may or may not proceed.  Usually it will go black again.  Sometimes I get the startup screen upside down.

Does this appear to be a software problem that my or may not be fixed when the 2.3 version is released for Australia?

Further, when doing the reboot with the three buttons and getting to the little droid digging, (yellow in colour) it says "Downloading..."  Do not turn off Target!!!.  Nothing appears to be happening.  If something is happening, how long should this take to stop downloading, or whatever it is doing.

I have tried to demonstrate what my problem is,  HELP.  please.

Thank you for your very informative explanation of what I have to do.  I will study this and when I can,  put it into effect.  It might be a while before this happens.

Hi.   Have read your "flashing" instructions and would like to ask this:

if my screen is black and unresponsive how do I get the dial pad up so that I can do #* etc.

Or, is this done by way of the pc.

Thanks.  I think there is a bit of confusion here.  My question was how I do the actual flashing.  On the phone or pc.  I am not locked into any contract.  Have been able to do the first steps without trouble.

I almost gave up on my samsung galaxy but thought I would have one more try.

I have previously, on three occasions, contacted the company technicians for advice and was told that unless I had the original proof of purchase, (bought on ebay by an unresponsive seller) that nothing could be done for me.  Optus, who had sold the mobile originally would/could not help nor could ebay.  As a last resort I contacted the repair agents for Samsung, not the technicians and told them of my problem.

I-Cure, (Samsung repairers) of Parramatta Road, Granville were most helpful.  They asked me for the model and number of the phone.  Checked it and found that it was manufactured 12 months previously, less one week.  How lucky was that.  I was told to forward it on to them and they would repair it under warranty which they did.

They replaced the LCD and did some software updates.  I now have a phone that works, no thanks to the ebay seller or the so called help desk staff at Samsung.

If you have not got a proof of purchase but have purchased the phone within the 12 month warranty period at least contact the company mentioned above.  They are very helpful.
