Background:
I have got a Samsung Galaxy S with the latest firmware, 2.1-update 1
I am also running a stationary pc with windows 7.

I want to do the following:
By using the AllShare-app ( Applications - Allshare ), i want to be able to view movies played on my pc, on my SGS.
Applications - AllShare - "Play file from server on my phone".

I also want to do it other way around:
By using the Allshare-app ( Applications - AllShare), iwant to be able to view movies played on my phone, on my pc ( by using windows mediaplayer ).

What i did to make it work:
In Windows 7 one have to give all the necessary permissions in order to allow the phone access the mediafiles.
Control Panel Home - Change advanced sharing settings
Under each small "heading" on that page, make sure everything is "turn on...", included "Media streaming is on"
Under the same heading "Media streaming" go to the link "Choose media streaming options"
Choose to show devices on "All networks", not only "local networks".
For all devices now showing up in the list, make sure its "allowed" in the dropdown menu to the right.

Further down on the same site, choose the link "tell me more about media streaming"
Now a "windows help and support" site will pop up.
Make especially notice to the link "To turn on home media streaming", and " To receive a media stream from another computer or device on your network"
There you find everything you need to know to make it all work.

On the top left corner of the open windows mediaplayer window, choose Organize - manage libraries - Videos
Then choose add. This to add a folder with videos to the library, which is not in the standard location of the video library.

Hopefully this information will be helpful for anyone out there Happy

Cheers

Great that it was helpful for someone Happy
For some "sick" reason i thought it could be fun to watch movies on my SGS after i had gone to bed. Thrilled when i discovered this build in opportunity.
Im coming from a SE K750i, so this phone is like a hot woman to me ;-)
