Hi guys,

I am new to this forum, so please give me some advise.
So I just got my Samsung Galaxy S, love it! The staff offered me to installed the screen protector but they use glass cleaner to clean the screen. I arrived home, read the manual book and it says the screen cannot come into contact with water as the touch screen may malfunction when exposed to water. I really like this phone and worry something will happen to the screen. Does anyone has experience of it? I do really appreciate it.

Thank you

I think there is little to worry about with the amount of liquid used for cleaning the screen if your screen is currently working. Some of the  screen protectors (Invisible Shield for instance) use a liquid for fixing the protector to the device while the device is turned off. Samsung doesn't want you getting your device wet and let liquid pool.

Hi.

Don't be worried about any liquids, go to your supermarket and buy an ecloth. That are less than a £, get one big enough to cover the whole phone. Put the phone in the middle, give it a quick scrub, and you have a buffed up new looking phone. :-)
Just don't drop it when you are getting out of the car like I did :-(

I'm lucky i have a cleaning cloth from my big @55 Samsung lcd . They give a too small cleaning tishue like but i't perfect for my SGS Big Smile. It has a very very fine texture probably made from micro textile fibers and it's realy cleaning the screen . Little issue that i have with dust getting pretty quickly in the gap at the edge of the glass .

hi, i am new and first time user of galaxy s, i am wondering is it necessary to get a screen protector and a casing for it? as i browse tru this forum, there is a brand called Zagg invisible shield- i read few comment on it and i am wondering is it really that good? for price of $25, you can get a full body casing ( i presume) does it protect the screen as well? and lastly what currency are they using? US dollar or Singapore dollar or any other currency? i am a user from malaysia

If you like to keep your stuff looking like new you'll want something like the invisible shield. It will hide existing light scratches and prevent new scratches. Zagg will cover back and screen.

I just got my gadgetshieldz product and I really like it. Similar to invisible shield but not as sticky feeling. And it applied very nicely if you follow their directions (I didn't the first time so had to remove and re-install) Also the cut is very good. I like how the corners fit much better than the invisible shield.

FYI Steve19800 - the gadgetshieldz is submerged in a slightly soapy solution, tapped to get rid of excess liquid then placed on the screen. There is enough water that you can slide the skin around to place it before you squeegee to remove the excess water.

I don't know about yours but mine doesn't need water on galaxy screen. Although you know, on the manual recommends you to use soapy water.

Yes, just like Casz mentioned - slightly soapy solution and get rid of excess liquid, so it's just enough water that you can slide the skin around.

Furthermore, it's submerging the gadgetshieldz, not your device.

It is wise to remove the battery and everything else before applying the shield. And try not to turn on your device until you're very sure it's dry.

What I've done, last time, was rest it at an angle (FOR 24 HOURS) such that any liquid will be drained out from an opening. After that, I use a hair-dryer to blow it for an hour or so, before inserting my SIM, SD card and battery.

Just be careful.

I did remove the back and install the back shield as practice Big Grin I just let it dry overnight turned off and everything was fine. The soapy water makes sure you don't get stupid bubbles that never come out (that's why I had to reinstall).

Simple and Safe Method.

Things Needed : Drinking water and a regular absorbant towel (preferenble old as that becomes a bit more absorbant).

Method .

1. Switch off the Phone completely.
2. Wet your palms with water and clean the screen and the back cover with the wet palms taking care not to use too much water and also not to let the water enter any holes / connectors on the mobile.
3. when you have rubbed it a little with your palms and the mobile is still wet a bit, use towel to gently polish and dry the mobile by keeping the mobile wrapped inside the towel.
4. Viola, its as clean as new...

I have been using this trick on my samsung capacitive touch screen phone Galaxy S. Nothing happens to the phone so dont worry. Water would not do any damage to the screen coating unless it enters inside the mobile itself. I guess any chemicals would rather be more dangerous.

Hope you find it useful..
