Today, my phone stays on the start window "GALAXY S, GT-9000   SAMSUNG" all the time. I have pulled the battery out, sim card, restarted and still does the same. I will leave it for hours like this but i do not know if it will start at one point.
What is the solution?is there a specific firmware to load back on the phone
If yes, how do you do that?
thanks in advance for your help!
i can also get the phone,in download mode, so i can load any file so far,i just need  to no,
whic one to load,to get the phone from out the black screen, thanks for any help-.[

Hi,

Try to get to Recovery mode and do a factory reset:

1. turn off your phone and wait 1 min.
2. press and hold "Volume up" then press and hold "Home" then press and hold "Power".
    When the white Samsung logo appears release all the 3 buttons.
3. in the menu choose "wipe data/factory reset".
4. choose "reboot system now".
What happens?

good luck. My captivate turned off completely. Only 9 months old. It got very hot to touch and shut off. I sent it to Samsung repair and the tech (who may or may not have really examined it) says the circuitry is corroded from liquid and not repairable. The litmus moisture indicators inside the phone are still bright white showing no exposure to moisture. Samsung says too bad and doesn't feel it has to honor the 1 year repair or replace warranty. I will NEVER buy another Samsung product again. Unfortunately I bought the phone online and not directly from AT&T. AT&T said from the look of it they would have replaced the phone without question and that I should dispute Samsung's claim. I've made several calls and emailed customer relations but I'm told the repair center has the last word and won't look at it again.

In Pittsburgh. Model SGH1897. Anybody need a battery, extra charger, or bodyglove before I put them on ebay? I'll NEVER buy Samsung again!

Ok so you have an Captivate.

Hmm, would it be possible to take the phone to a different Samsung service center?

Was there any contact with water?

Can you tell me what happens when you try to turn the device on in the current state?

Peace.

Thanks, but I had to send it to their phone repair center in Plano, Texas. There was absolutely no exposure to liquid -- the white litmus tabs would have discolored. When I mentioned that to tech support, all they say is the repair center has final word. It is just Samsung's way of getting out of honoring the 1 year warranty. It will not turn on at all and is declared by Samsung to be unrepairable.

Well in this case it seems that your phone has become a paper wieght, and at that not an effective one as it too light.

From my experiance Samsung has a good track record in honoring warranties, but every know and then there is a complaint. You can't make everyone happy.

Eitherway fell sorry for your experiance, ʞɔoɹ happens.

Peace.

@leah
Plz try this.
Charge ur battery externally.
While the battery is still out of phone, do the three button download mode combo, and while u do it, slide ur battery back into phone. Ur phone should boot in download mode.

@others.
Looks like u ppl can get into download mode, thats battle half won already!!
next flash the firmware of ur choice.
Keep it stock for a couple of days, n observe its stability.
Den install ur apps n see if its d apps or phone itself which causes problem.
Keep me posted of developments :-)
