hi everyone. I'm new here at the forums., but I think I can help you with this.

apple headset,. use a different TRRS wiring pinout. of the 3.5mm headset jack.

TRRS has 3 circles which is same with the TRRS Nokia/Samsung uses..

Apple has 1-audio left,. 2-audio right,. 3-mic,. 4-ground/common
while
SGS/Nokia uses 1-audio left,. 2-audio right,. 3-groud,. 4-mic.

try this. while plugging another non-compatible headset with your SGS try pressing the mic button. you'd be able to hear the full quality of the music you're listening to.  Laugh

I have URBANEARS medis. it sounds alright for me, but not very crisp or much of a heavy base. but what i like about urban ears is that they have Apple TRRS connection, but have 2 extensions. 1 for nokia compatibility TRRS and a neutral audio TRS jack.

http://www.urbanears.com/

hope this helps!  Big Grin

I prefer to use open-type large-diaphragm headphones.
The Samsung 3.5mm connector carries four electical connections meaning it can deliver stereo sound and signal from a mono microphone. Most headphones with 3.5mm connectors have only three wires and are deesigned for stereo sound only.
Also:

In-ear headphones block out traffic noises and ambient noise which makes them dangerous to use when walking outside.
In-ear headphones have weak bass.
in-ear headphones can damage your ears too easily when used at higher volumes.
The Samsung ones are uncomfortable.
The Samsung headphones do not fit very well - the problem is where do you clip them, do the colours match,  where to put the cables, the cables are too short, your ears get hot, etc.
When will these technology designers try evaluating their products from a customer perspective instead of the team who designs them, who are after all - technology designers!
Also - phone calls are really quiet on my model - in relation to music files. Even when on maximum volume.  Angel Angel Angel

By the way!

Samsung may want us to use Bluetooth headphones so try to force us to modify our behaviour.
A common attitude found in large corporations world-wide.
It says a lot about how they run their own businesses and problebly person llives as well.
Am I wrong?

This has been my experience on most phones. The presence of the head phones in the jack puts the phone into wired headset mode. It's sort of the user's fault for putting in a set that lacks a microphone.

I am going to be patient... Let us be clear....

I am using the Samsung headset which includes a microphone.

THE VOLUME IS TOO QUIET. USING THE SAMUSNG HEADPHONE WITH A MICROPHONE.
Thank you for your lovely replies about your experience of listening to music using standard headphones. That belongs on another thread.

My point exactly.

You go to the Samsung forum for the phone and the forum is full of misinformation, specualtion and conjecture.  Lots of people trying to solve problems and nobody has the answers. IN the meantime the Samsung company pays out fat dividends to its shareholders and its customers waste their time discussing nonsense on the forums.

RETURN THE PHONE.

I've tried using a normal mp3 earpiece and i expect to listen to calls made/receive thru the earpiece and talk thru the phone mouthpiece but I can only listen to music only.
