Guys, has anyone use other brands of headset other than given in the standard pack? I've tried using a normal mp3 earpiece and i expect to listen to calls made/receive thru the earpiece and talk thru the phone mouthpiece but I can only listen to music only.Using apple iphone earpiece with mic also allows me to listen to music only...is galaxy s supposed to work like this??

This has been my experience on most phones. The presence of the head phones in the jack puts the phone into wired headset mode. It's sort of the user's fault for putting in a set that lacks a microphone.

I avoid the problem with a bluetooth headset...   Big Grin

Hello Forum

A very new Galaxy S user (got it yesterday) and I am facing problems with the headset provided. The box came with regular ear-plug kind of headset, but when I plus that in, it does not activate the call headset button.

Does the Galaxy S take only bluetooth headsets? Please help...it's very difficult to drive and talk when the phone is on speaker mode  Embarrased

I experienced the same thing yesterday with my phone put the earphones in to make a call but nothing.  I thought I was doing something wrong, so what your saying the earphones that come with the phone are not to go along and chat to people when ur driving they are just to listen to music or the radio, downside yet again if this is the case.

Well...I dun have any problem with the in-ear headset provided in the box...the headset u got is it with samsung logo???....I can listen to music and made/receive calls with it...pls check with the shop u bought for replacement...i'm sure it's under warranty or the shop changed the headset provided with a compatible one...like what i said...samsung galaxy s only allows the genuine standard headset provided in the box to listen to music and made/receive calls...good luck

The problem is this.  Samsung used the same jack layout as the nokia n97,  so if you are hunting for adapters or headsets try that.
Pass this on to everyone that has a Samsung phone

Sent back in time from my Samsung Galaxy SSS

Well, I tried to do the checkout and thanks to the shipping costs I was going to pay around 90$ for the whole thing, so I'm gonna see if I can find something else... any suggestions?

All,
There is a setting which allows you to use the bluetooth device for making phone calls or listening to music. Once you have connected to the bluetooth device select and hold the device  under bluetooth devices till you get a menu with connect, unpair and options. Select the options menu. That will take you to a page where you can see "Profiles" which has two options, use for phone audio and use for media audio. Make sure that they both are checked. If both are checked, you will be able to make calls as well as listen to music. I have a planatronics stereo headset and I have used it to both make calls and listen to music.
