Hi,

I bought Samsung GT-i9001 from local vendor and he told me that it had 1.4 GHz processor, 2 GB ROM, 512 MB RAM and 8 GB internal memory. Upon checking gsmarena.com and other websites I saw that the specs. said by vendor were correct and hence the next day I bought the phone, but to my surprise after few days of getting used to the phone I saw that phone is showing only 352 MB of RAM and 12 GB of internal memory.

Is everyone getting 352 MB of RAM in this model or there's something wrong with my handset ? Please suggest. I specfically told the vendor that I wanted a mobile phone with atleast 1 GHz processor, 512 MB RAM, 1 GB ROM.

I am feeling cheated Crying
Please suggest.

Thanks.

512mb is total ram. Part of which is used by the system, so you get somewhere between 320-350 left for other stuff.

Same with internal memory, 16gb is total of which, 4 gb is used by the system.

That's also how it goes for laptops and other electronic devices. When they tell you 4gb of ram and 500gb memory, the system is going to use some of that because again, they're stating Total numbers.

Ok i agree that system is using some part etc. but what is the problem is showing that the total memory is: 512 MB RAM, Used is: 160 and Free is: 352 MB.

But no it shows: Total Memory is: 352 MB, Used Memory is: xx MB and Free Mem. is: xx MB which makes me wonder that if the phone has actual 512 MB or not.

I will get this checked in detail.

Some memory card will appear such situation like you,and it shows 512 MB,but its true capacity is less than 512MB.But generally it has a numerical range.I don't know if your samsung is normal.
