why use kies? unless you like the idea of using itunes...mass storage solves everything.

I actually had problems connecting my Galaxy S to my PC (running Windows 7 Home) through Kies.

Then I brought it to the Samsung Customer Service Centre at Plaza Singapura.  They had to reinstall drivers on my phone.  After that, it's been working.  Suggest you bring it down to Samsung if there's problems.

I must say, the Samsung Galaxy S on Android is one of the better phones I've used.  I just migrated from an iPhone.

i think the person who started this thread is a fan of proprietary technologies such as iphone and simply hates open source technologies such as android.......i suggest this person just search the internet for the numerous problems faced by iphone users.......the message here is simple - DON'T around shouting Don't Buy this and that. Smartphone users are smarter than you think! Also, we have choices of numerous handset models from numerous manufacturers at any 1 time, NOT 1 model by 1 manufacturer!

I'm using WinXP Pro OS with latest Samsung Kies version, so far is working fine. Only at times it might not be able to detect properly. All you need to do is to un-plug the usb connection and plug in back, usually a few times it should work. I love my Samsung Galaxy S, is really cool smartphone that serve me well ^_^

Hi guy,

I now can connect the kies from my laptop to the galaxy s.

Go to setting, select about phone, select either mass or kies storage (both work for me)

Plug the usb cable to the laptop or pc.

Then slide the top of the screen down (where is normally show Wi-Fi, bluetooth, silent and vibration) and now you will see ongoing on the screen which show USB connected.

Now press the "USB connected" and you will see the message and said "you have connected your phone to your computer via USB. Select "Mount" if you want to copy files between your comopyuter and your phone's SD card.",
press Mount.

Now you should be able to transfer file between the pc and galaxy s.

It works for both Kies and Mass Storage with internal and external SD card Mounted

I have to say that this thread was started by a "fan boy".?well...

I am a proud owner of a SGS. Been having a good experience with it all along. Pictures and videos are great. Reception does not show any discrepancy. Tha android platform indeed are great to manipulate with. Can't wait to update the official FROYO.

But I do know that this phone is one of the many that does not required a bumper to keep your calls connected.

No problem connecting my Galaxy S to my PC via USB, works perfectly!

Using Windows 7 x64.   Big Grin

Right on bro!  Good to hear.  I'm getting my Galaxy S on the 31st.  I'm going through sprint so it will be the Samsung Epic.  I'll let you all know how I like it.  I can't wait to test it out.  I'm excited to try the DLNA.
