PLS HELP! Samsung S GTi900 does not go further than startup screen!

Please please please help me somebody!
 

I got my new Samsung Galaxy S only since last 4 months! I left my charger at my office last weekend and so my phone battery went dead for almost 3 days. When I eventually mange to charge my phone fully, and tried to turn it on, it only shows the start-up screen (Galaxy S GT i900) for about 3 seconds then it went blank and repeats this as long as the battery is inside! I tried to reboot the system and the reboot system does not go further than 3 seconds and then the phone restarts itself again.

So far, my galaxy has not given me hard time, I'm a simple phone user and does not even update my system or do anything more complicated than downloading an app.

firstly check if you can start up phone into 'Recovery Mode' (with phone off, press and hold volume up +  home +  power buttons) and 'Download Mode' ( with phone off, press and hold volume down +  home +  power buttons).

This will give us a good idea of what options are available to us.
