i have the samsung galaxy s anycall and it was imported from korea to the united states. it was an unlocked t-moble phone so it was safe to insert my at&t sim card and use it. Here is a list of problems im having:
it will send text messages only to some of my contacts, most of the time it sends text messages but the person im sending it to will never recieve it.
it cannot send mms, which im allowed to since i have a data plan.
i can only send a text message max is 80 bytes, which is about 1/3 the size a regular text message should be.
i have a really poor signal most of the time which is weird since my older phone had really great signal all of the time.
So is the problem with the phone because it was originally from korea? or is the problem with the service provider since the phone was made for t-mobile? should i get help form the samsung phone manufacturer or at&t? i also heard updating the phone to some firmware thingy-ma-jig by using something called "kies."  i have no idea what that means or how to do that.  please help me, thanks Wink Wink

1. Go to settings > wireless and network > mobile networks: experiment with the options, either gsm or cdma. Use whichever has better signal.

2. Under wireless and network > mobile networks > access point names: make sure the fields are filled in properly, you get these from your carrier. Once fields are set, activate network connection by long pressing power button and activate data network. You may have to turn this on and off a few times and maybe even turn your airplane mode on and off to activate network connection. You can check if you're connected by looking at your signal strength icon: if there's a H, 3G, G showing up, then you're connected.

3. Lastly, how do you know how many bytes your sms are? Are you sure you're sending a plain old sms or are you sending out mms? Please illustrate how you go about sending messages. Maybe you're doing something which converts your sms to mms, which will give you problems if you don't have network connection or have the wrong settings.

If you still experience problems even after you've done everything, backup your data and do a factory reset. Hopefully, starting over will clear out whatever kinks you've got on your phone.

1: for the mobile networks, gsm seems to give me the most bars, although it fluxuates frequently.
2: for the access piont names i have AT&T 310 410, and after i long press to activate data networks i get a "registration failure (13)"  there is no G or 3G icon showing up
3: for the tesxt messaging the phone actually counts all of your characters up to 80 bytes and after that the message turns into an MMS.  if i try to send the MMS the phone says that "data networks not allowed and cannot send message"
4:  ive actually tried the factory restore/reset.  it reset all the settings and the language was switched back to korean.  it did not help the problems
any other suggestions?  thanks for helping, by the way

You need to Philipino ROM for this phone, I saw it a while ago, can't find it right now.

It was on XDA, the issue is the Korean Operators handle SMS differently. 80 is the limit because their Alphabets. There is a fix i just can't find it ATM, I will keep looking.

Peace.
