I have a similar problem. I've just started using Google Contacts so have set the Contacts-->Display Options--> to display only Google contacts (Phone and SIM are unchecked). I know there are some contacts remaining on my SIM (I like to keep a few key contacts on there just in case I need to put the SIM in an 'emergency' handset). Obviously they don't show up when browsing Contacts due to the above setting. But when I write a text message, pressing 'Contacts' displays all of the contacts in Google AND on the SIM. It looks as though the Messaging contacts display is ignoring the 'Contacts-->Display Options' settings. Is there are way to fix this? I know that when writing a text message I can do 'Group-->System Group: My Contacts' (or some other group) to only display the contacts in Google but this is annoying.

Running Android 2.2
If the above is unclear, here are the repo steps:

Home Screen
Contacts-->(menu)-->More-->Display Options.
   Phone --> All Contacts (uncheck)
   SIM --> All Contacts (uncheck)
   Google --> check all the groups

Home Screen
Contacts --> as expected I can only see Google contacts

Home Screen
Messaging --> New Message --> Contacts
I can now see Google contacts AND all the contacts left on my SIM. I don't want to see the SIM contacts.

Thanks for any advice
George
