I can’t send email on my mobile when I have a WIFI connection.  I can send email with a 4G connection and I can receive email with both connections.

My mobile service and home internet service are through Telus.

I have called Telus Mobility and have gone through troubleshooting and even deleted the account and made a new account. They say everything is configured correctly and should be working.

I have called Telus Internet Support and have gone through troubleshooting and they say everything is working fine.

My laptop (connected through WIFI) is configured the same as my mobile and it works fine.

I used my neighbour’s Telus WIFI, and it still does not work.

I called Samsung and they said its an intrinsic problem with all Samsung phones that cannot be resolved.

Anybody else have the same issues?

Thanks.

If Samsung said that then I would think this is an isolated issue with the Canadian ROM.

Can you tell me what Error Maeeage you recieve.

Can you install aLogcat from Market and try and isolate the exact time frame and post the Log.

Peace.

When I try to send, the message is "connection error"

If I try to set up the outgoing server settings in WIFI, I get the message "Setup could not finish - Cannot connect to server (421 EHLO Helo rejected).

I installed aLogcat.  There are 100's of lines of text.  What should I be looking for ?

Thanks.

Note the Time down to the Second and try to replicat the error and then look for that in alogcat

Post the Portion since you press the button to initiate the task and when the error shows up.

Peace.

Ok it seems like it has been set at the Java security level.

Can you try a third party app like K-9 Mail? this is mainly to rule out if it's hardcoded into the system or if it's a core level glitch.

Peace.

I called Telus again today and the rep that I got this time said that if I have a "telus.net" email address and I use Telus internet, then I can't send emails on my phone via WIFI.

I'm just going to use GMAIL !!

Thanks for your help.

Bob.

E-mail protocol isn't fixed to being used on 3G and not Wifi.

Please try a third party App like K-9 Mail. If for nothing else then to advance our knowledge of what has been done.

Peace.

K-9 Mail does work ! So, I dont know what Telus is talking about!

Why would K9 mail work, but not the standard email client or Samsung email?

Thanks for your help

This confirms my suspicsion.

They have added a custom Block in the Default Client to serve their agenda.

This is the side of google I don't like, the part that let's operators have full autonomy over how they want the handsets to be delievred to their market.

Don't they see that when they do this they loose confidence.

Eitherway thanks to third party apps this issue can be diverted.

Repped for trying it out, and helping in figuring out a solution.

Peace.

It also confirms (although I don't know we needed this confirmation) that tech support is unreliable at best.

Tech support will tell you what is written on their papers.

They are not really tech people.

So you can't really blame them.

Peace.
