I don't even know where I read this, but go to the market and pick up the free app "Juice defender."  There are better versions that you can pay for, but I don't know why you would buy them.  The free one made a MAJOR difference in my battery drain on my Galaxy S.  At the end of the day I was often down to seeing little of the battery indicator left.  Sometimes I had to recharge during the day.  It is now 9 pm and my battery is at about 65% still.  Major difference.  Give it a try, for free you can't go wrong.

There is a lot of reason for battery drain.   See www.practicallyandroided.com for some suggestions.  There is a comprehensive list of things that can drain your battery.

I will suggest that you update your phone's firmware.  Also suggest looking at checking the settings of several of the apps that you have to make sure that they do not keep using data in the background.
