I find it really inexcusable that this kind of flagship phone still doesn't have a working video chat application available. All chat apps require Android 2.3.4 OR they need to be very unofficial hacked versions (f ex Skype)  Sad

I bought a premium phone expecting a premium user experience, but instead there's...lack of.

Sorry but i dont have interest towards starting hacking my phone (rooting, custom ROMs etc), for me  it's just a tool. And now that video chat is lacking, it has one very important tool less. Yes it's my fault that i didn't check this in advance. But i thought it unimaginable that a flagship smartphone model would NOT have a rather basic feature like this.

And shame on Samsung for delaying the update this long, first leaked rumors i've read about the update are from start of June, and still nothing!! This is NOT the kind of experience that makes me think of buying another Samsung phone  Angry (yes this is my first)

Cool down mate. Skype, fring, nimbuzz do all provide video chat for free through compatible apps. I run all three of them On my S2.work all great. I didn't test Google talk for video. Yahoo and msn should also work with video. No idea about icq . Hope this helps.

Except the battery life time i am happy with KF3 no need for update.people always expect too much from new versions.most of the time it will be only bug fixes and smoothing not really new interface. I use my phone really heavily day by day. Skype fring nimbuzz audio video internet radio.all my email 4accounts. 5newspaper 7 forums. Google news. Twitter .Facebook . Many many books........ Enough? And about 300 app installed . And my phone runs stable and fast. Not to mention my internet browsing and hdmi  connection to my tv.

Skype definately works with out needing needing to be hacked. Just update to the most recent version and you'll be fine. If you need help using it see the guide below as it should work totally fine.

Yes of course it works now since Skype came out with the non-restricted version, and works great too! Very happy with it!  Big Grin

My only remaining gripe is that 2.3.4 is not out yet as it's supposed to make it possible to use Gtalk video chat, why it's important is that at least on a pc, it's much easier on the system resources.

I think we can blame Apple for 2.3.4 taking so long. Samsung will have to no doubt change things to avoid getting taken to court...again...

Don't understand.. when I bought my S2 skype would not provide video as it does now, so I installed and used vtok/google chat instead.. worked fine.

Sure if anything goes, but Vtok is not made by Google (and has its share of problems).
Plain vanilla factory 2.3.3 and Gtalk does not support video.
Still waiting  for a 2.3.4 update for  S2, which was rumored to be available "soon" already at start of June...

When you start google talk there is green icon on right side of persons name. If they have google video talk plugin instaled then green dot changes to green camera. You must press that camera to start video chat.
