Samsung starts Rolling out the first Value packs Updates (VPU) to the Samsung Galaxy S I9000 devices.

The Update is currently Available for Europe and Korea through OTA or via Samsung Kies and will Roll-out to other countries soon. The Value pack will make your Galaxy S Faster, smoother and uses some Android 4.0 features adapted inside it, such as the Facelock.

Dumb question, but to those of us in Europe, is it a case of running Kies and checking the updates option? I`ve tried the software update option on the G S, but is states no updates available at this time.

Any further news would be useful!

I'm guessing this wouldn't work on my i500 would it?

That is no dumb question, I have exactly the same question. And btw, what does "Korea and Europe" mean? What is Europe then. Sweden and spain seems not to be part of it...

Samsung Galaxy S cannot support the full ICS (Android 4) software, so we have to use a kludged up mixture of old and new stuff. Not very impressive for a relatively new phone, and I will put Samsung to the bottom of my list when my contract is renewed later this year.

What does the Galaxy S support from ICS?  When will it be coming to the US?

I would just like kies to recognize my captivate on a mac. Nothing is more frustrating than spending good money and have some sh1t for brains company trying to control the platform.  Come on Samsung, if I wanted to fight with my products I would still be with Windows 95. Linux and FreeBSD are easier to upgrade than these phones. I can't wait for the Asus phone, if it's anything like the transformer life will be great.

Come on on Samsung there should be an app for that and it should not be Kies. iTunes kills the iPhone and Kies Kills the Galaxy. Don't copy Apple sh1t, innovate. Make life easy for your customers!!!!!! I paid over $600 for this phone and won't spend another dime on a Samsung phone unless you start thinking about your users. I can't believe how companies today make such amazing products but alienate the customers with these stupidities. No I will not buy another computer juts to upgrade my phone.... /RANT

Does anyone have any info as to when 3 UK will roll it out?
They made ICS available to SGS 2 users the day it was released, why can they not do the same for us SGS users, we still pay them a lot of money every month!!

Ive just been given a new galaxy s by my phone company after i took it in to be updated to the latest software and it died a death on them. Im not clued up on updates and how and when they need doing. i have a question as to why you just cant go into your about phone settings and do the check for updates and download any updates from there? or can you? my old phone would always show as no updates available even when there was but that might have been connected to why it broke as they said there was hardware issues and it did strange things before   it was replaced. why all the talk about klies and the other one, odlum or something? and having to connect your phone to a comp. i was playing with a galaxy tab and u could do the update for the tab from directly going to check/download updates.
