Sorry for sounding stupid but i'd really like to buy the galaxy s now.  Will i be able to download the froyo when it comes out and upgrade my phone or if i really want the froyo (with the flash), must i wait for the built in one on september? I hope someone can enlighten me.  Thanks!

Samsung has mercifully confirmed at an event in New York this evening that all Galaxy S versions -- including the Captivate, Epic 4G, Vibrant, and Fascinate -- will be receiving updates to Android 2.2 Froyo later this year and offer compatibility with Flash 10.1. All of the devices will be shipping with Android 2.1 out of the gate, so considering that Froyo's already launched, we're sure there'll be no shortage of pressure to get the updates fast-tracked. Sprint says it won't be a long wait on the Epic, but otherwise, we don't have any time frames at this point.

You can wait till september.

But if you are very curious you can use the alpha firmware that leaked, but i wouldn't recommended it.
Maybe if you wait a little bit longer a fairly stable beta firmware will leak and you could flash this one then.

The newer firmwares that have "leaked" are very stable.... i've been using them for the last month with no issues.

yeah have no problems either with jm2 but the froyo leaks (jp2/3) are not very stable and got some problems. So if you want to upgrade to a beta firmware i would recommended jm2
