Can anyone tell me why not some details below
samsung galaxy s pda:jm7 / phone:jm3 / csc jm1
firmware version 2.1 update 1
build no. eclair.xwjm7
kernel 2.6.29 root@se-s603 #2

any help greatly appreciated

Also if any more info is required will be more than happy to provide it.

Did you or anyone else flash the firmware on this phone? If yes, you can re-flash it using odin. If it's all stock, it's probably carrier locked or something. In this case, you could take it to samsung to update it for you or you could, again, flash the latest firmware on it using odin. You'd probably void warranty this way if it's stock tho.

hi m8.. im oso face this kind of prob.. but im using stock rom froyo.. i dont think that my carrier locked my sgs.. if im flash new stock official rom(2.3), izzit possible for me to update later (let say 2.3.4) using kies???

Yeah, you can still update even if you flash your rom. I've done it lots of times. Usually after I do something to mess up my phone, I flash a prior rom and csc and update my phone through kies.

If you do this, the PDA and CSC have to be a close match. Or else kies will either not see the csc portion or say "this version cannot be updated."
