Hello,

I have a Galaxy S I9000. The other day at work I downloaded the latest version of Kies and installed it at work on my windows XP PC. However, after the installation - the phone detects fine, the internet on the computer works fine, kies tells me an update is available... however when trying to update it says "The internet is not connected, do you want to check the connection and try again". I uninstalled and reinstalled kies... no luck. So, I came home, and formatted my HOME PC - installed a clean install of windows 7 (note: i am not longer at work at this point)... same issue!!!! - I have NO antivirus or anything, just a clean install of windows 7 - same thing happens at work with windows XP. I have ready every threat I can find on the internet, a lot of other people are having the same issue. I just want to upgrade to froyo (and even if I cant upgrade yet, I want this to work so I can upgrade in the future).

any suggestions? i cant work this out.

thanks,

Sarah.

Yup have the same problem myself.

I read on another forum where another user with this issue disconnected his LAN and connected some other internet connection, that the issue went away. I have yet to test this.

Possible workaround:

It seems Kies is "sensitive" or choosy as to how you connect to the internet. I'm usually connected via wifi and kept getting that error message, right when I plugged directly to LAN, Kies started downloading the upgrade and things went smooth as butter!

I suggest you try other internet connection options and see what works best for you.

Was the LAN and WLan from the same source Modem? if not was it the same ISP? If not then maybe it's an ISP thing?

Don't use Kies!
Try Odin or Heimdall!
