So, I wish to ask, is there any other way of getting the OS upgrade?
I have been checking updates for my phone and it is still FROYO, 2.2.1. No updates available.

If the new OS was available (somewhere) could it be installed using Odin?

Regards
Kevin.

Yes, if your phone is SIM unlocked and you can use the 3 button combo.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply, that was the news I was hoping to get.
I believe mine is unlocked, it is a parallel imported phone, not tied to any of our telco's.
I can do the 3 button sequence if you mean, Vol-up/down, Power and Home key to got to the Download screen. If it's different then please advise the sequence you are talking about?
I have downloaded Odin, so I will now need to find a copy of the latest GB.

So is there any difference in OS for other parts of the world, and which is the best? I notice when I reboot my phone it defaults to Romanian. Luckly I can find how to change it to English easy enough. Having it default to English Australian, UK or even US would be better.

Thansk for your time. Kevin.

If your phone is SIM unlocked, to check, dial *#7465625#; and you can use the 3BC, then you can perform an upgrade to a Gingerbread ROM. The newest is XXJVR.

I think the 2.3.4 update as been pulled by Samsung - The update is not showing as available on my unlocked SGS via Kies in the UK, I'm still on 2.3.3 JVO Crying

I have 3 network in the UK. Currently running 2.3.3 . Kies says this the latest update. 2.3.4 not available in the UK as far as I can see.

Still don't know why take so long to release the updates. The basic difference between the ROMS for I9000B and for the I9000 is because the TV and FM radio right? I Don't need these two features, so i can flash the 2.3.5 rom and be happy.

The mobile focus of the camera is a feautre of all the sgs? so, i flash this rom i still can get the full camera capabilities?

thanks for all.

Fairly sure that all of us stuck on 2.3.3 because of the customer sales code.
My phone has CSC: CPW and won't update from 2.3.3 via Kies

I'm in the same boat.... CSC is CPW so I'm stuck with the 2.3.3 battery drain bugs.  If I use Odin to update, I'll have to re-install all my apps.  Who has to fix this?  It is Samsung?  or Carphone Warehouse ?

CPW say they are not responsible for firmware, but if you call or email them they'll tell you to take your phone to one of their stores, where they will look into it, ie. they will flash your phone in store and you'll still lose all of your stuff.
I gave up and upgraded via Odin myself in the end.
