thanks IronSingh for the reply..but unfortunately with "usb debugging mode" unticked, Kies can't even detect my SGS...Crying

When you plug the phone in with Kies Mode on.

Can you look at the Device Manager (Control Panel -> Computer Settings -> Hardware Tab - > Device Manager), Do you see any Yellow question Marks?

Peace.
IronSingh

More of changes you expected, get a brand-new Kies!

Download. Make sure to get the uninstaller to uninstall the older version first.
I have unistalled so many times and updated, hopefully one dayi will work.  I did update on kies 1.5 to froyo. but I would like Gingerbread x

KIES is the worst piece of ʞɔoɹ program i´ve ever used after windows millennium!
I´ve sent Samsung an email about it and all they say is that they are listening to their customers needs. Bullshit....if they had listened or understood at all what customers need in a program they would have implemented it already wich they haven´t!

I really hate this product!

Is there any third party software available so we don't have to use Kies?

i have this problem with my galaxy s not connecting to kies 2.0
have uninstalled kiess reinstalled, took battery out of phone and everything, tried on different pc, different usb ports, reinstall drivers etc.
kies just sits at connecting, sometimes stops and starts, phone says connected
btw i am running 2.3.3 on o2 in UK

usb debugging has now found this in device manager, portable device E:\ and F:\ both have yellow caution symbols, tried updating them but windows says they are upto date, under properties it says this,
E:\ Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
F:\ Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

what now i have no idea but going to try uninstalling them & see what happens, unless anybody has any ideas or fixes:)

another thing i noticed, when connecting phone to pc, autoplay was not starting which it always did.

However,
i have uninstalled both E:\ and F:\ while phone was still plugged in and in usb debugging mode,
unplugged phone, reconnected it while still in debugging mode, kies said reconnect phone in kies mode as current mode not supported,
unplugged phone, turned off usb debugging, reconnected to pc
both said connecting, autoplay started so closed it
Success:)))  phone and Kies now connected Happy)))))))

#yellow caution symbols had disappeared:)

I resolved my problems. I uninstalled Kies 2.0 and went back to 1.5.3 revision 102, and upgraded my firmware to 2.2.1 without any hassle at all.
