Hi,
I am thinking of getting the Galaxy S, but would like to know if there are any hardware changes between the 2.1 and 2.2 on the phone? Can I just buy the phone now and do a software update later? If there are any hardware changes between the 2.1 and 2.2, I would wait till the 2.2 with updated hardware is released. Thanks for your help..

yes, the Android 2.2(Froyo) update will happen OTA...and yes the hardware will stay the same Froyo will just help the phone use its software to its fullest.

Where exactly has samsung started that the update would be OTA ? AFAIK the update will only be delivered via kies. And how would we receive the update OTA anyway ? There is no "check for updates" option implemented in settings, unlike other phones... However, if what you're saying is true, then that's great news indeed!!

Ok, Im sorry I just re-read something and yes you are correct you will recieve it over Kies and the uS verients of the Galaxy S phone will be receiving it OTA.

Simple mistake, but a mistake none the less so I am sorry I had my info slightly wrong.

Nah...No problem.

Everybody is expecting OTA updates for Galaxy S, so much so that it'd become very sensitive  Big Smile

Hopefully we'll have it after the Froyo release.

Hear Samsung! Wake up!  Sticking out tongue
