MemoryUp Pro can be found in Android Market, it's a paid version of MemoryUp.

Pro version can only be seen if you're able to access the Paid area of the Market, which, ATM, not all countries.

You can access the Paid area with a "Market Enabler" app, but it'll need your device to be rooted.

I know, many owner do not wish to root their device. It's not a must, but why not? You don't lose anything, instead you're able to do a few more things that non-rooted device can't.

Rename its extension .zip to .apk

That's a trail version. You'll need to pay for a registration code to unlock it.

Hi Omnian, Charles

First of all Hats off to u all, for sharing your knowledge. You all are amazing.

I have recently bought galaxy S I9000. And I am mesmerised by its quality and capability ( after following this forum). I have upgraded it to froyo.

After reading various topics on this forum, I have came across this Rooting and lag-fix thing a number of times. I tried to understand these things. Read this post from ironsinghhttp://www.samsunggalaxysforum.com/samsung-galaxy-s-rooting/what-is-rooting-and-why-you-should-or-shouldn%27t-care/ . But I am not able to understand what exactly it means in a lay-man terms.

Secondly, from Rooting ,as u said, a owner will not loose anything. Could u pls suggest me the best and safest Rooting procedure around. The One used by you.
Also tell me whether this thing is revertible or not. and the safey quotient related to this.

Thirdly, I saw your quadrant standard result (2232) in "Post your screen shot". I wanted to ask whether rooting is the reason behind it or some apps and how this result can be achieved. Also suggest me apps by which I can increase its performance to this level.

Thanks in advance.

In lay-man's term, root gives you access to the Android's system. Something for like "Hackers" to modify so that it'll be able to perform some extra functions, changes and customizations.

There's nothing "safe", everything involve modifying the system have some risk. Only how careful and what procedure did you followed "closely" from other members' experience, as to reduce the risk.

I've posted the rooting method I used and to me, the experience was smooth as silk.

Thirdly, I saw your quadrant standard result (2232) in "Post your screen shot". I wanted to ask whether rooting is the reason behind it or some apps and how this result can be achieved. Also suggest me apps by which I can increase its performance to this level.

No, just Root did not improve the quadrant. I had to lag-fixed it with One Click Lag Fix, which needed the device to be rooted.

You may have read that this quadrant result was not accurate (and it could be), but it did improved the laggyness of the original SGS.

Hi Omnian,

Thanks for the info.

I'll just rephrase the rooting procedure which I have understood.

The phone should be in USB Debugging Mode.
Install the z4Root.apk from the link u provided.
Run OCLF(Free Version) which is downloaded from the Market.

Is this correct? pls update me about anything however minor it is regarding this.

Secondly, Is rooting revertible? If I wanted to get back to original can it be done.

Also, Gingerbread is round the corner. Is phone need to be unrooted before updating it to Gingerbread??

Thanx in advance.

Yes, but I don't remember going into USB Debugging Mode.

Yes. Just use back the same OCLF to un-lagfix it, then z4Root to un-Root.

Also, Gingerbread is round the corner. Is phone need to be unrooted before updating it to Gingerbread??

You sure? Gingerbread? Round the corner? Samsung? I thought many are still waiting for Froyo.  Laugh

It's not necessary to un-root (no harm un-rooting), but definitely you must un-lagfix before updating.

Thanx a ton.

Yeah, In India Froyo came in december only.

Samsung ppl(via twitter) have confirmed it that 2.3 will be provided to India but it will not be OTA, it will be through kies.

I think starting 10th March, Germany & Italy SGS owners will be able to update it. They are first to get it. Followed by US.

It should be 2 month or so for India ppl.
