 well i in uk with unbranded simfree galaxy s and yesterday i downloaded the new latest kies update first then today YES!! there is a new firmware update gingerbread 2.3.4 so i downloaded it and it works fine i also cant seem to find the video chat (think its been omitted) my scores on quadrant where around 900-950 my mobile is standard rom no root etc well now its 1250+ and overall it seems lighting fast again just like good old froyo (oh i missed that one) good luck trying to download guys  Smile

I can vouch for that...just got mine updated a few min ago.....JVQ is the update offered. Slick as hell...Quadrant score of 1510...still testing. :-)

 Crying  Unfortunately my update did not work, stopped working before finished. Left Galaxy S in Download mode or icon of phone connecting to computer with triangle with ! in middle, tried all forums I could, but in end phoned support- needs to be sent to service centre, as three finger salutes did not work.

In v 2.3.3 there is an option to update software directly (I think it's also called over the air). I thought this new option replaced the update-via-Kies process!!

Yesterday i tried to update my phone 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 with samsung kies lastest version (Kies_2.0.2.11071_128_2) but after downloading the software the process interrupted in the middle and bricked my phone.  Crying
Anyone faced this problem ?

I had identical problem - ended up having to send to service centre, which you can get from Samsung Website, if you registered phone.

Would advise others not to use Kies unless prepared to do without phone for a while, I am enjoying using my Treo 650 at least but miss the Samsung.

i got the same icons phone connecting to computer when connecting usb cable.
somehow i recovered the phone by getting the download mode and using odin to update new firmware Happy

I have an unlocked and unbranded UK galaxy s. I have updated to the latest Kies and it is showing that there is no update from 2.3.3.
What is happening with the UK update?
