Where are you. My Galaxy S on O2 in The UK still shows JF1 and Kies offers no update.
Interesting about the GPS control. Has this also solved the GPS issue?

sorry never thought to say i am also in uk on o2 but on contract through tesco its unlocked tried all the network sims all work. the gps locks in well under 10 seconds and the web seems faster now too. on the drop down the silent icon has been replaced by the gps icon and in the gallery are 4 new wallpapers/pictures still finding new stuff will keep you upto date

I tried it with my Tesco SIM and it worked although Tesco is a reseller for o2 and I find my free o2 to o2 calls are also free when calling the Tesco number. Anyway I don't think the phone is locked so puzzled why Kies doesn't give me the update.
You mention having to reinstall all apps. I assume this happens from the Downloaded tag in the Market and is relatively painless?

Don't know what astrology is? Still trying to figure out why some of us have received an update and some haven't. Been on the Vodafone forum and it's the same, some have received it via Kies and some haven't, with no rhyme or reason behind it.

That's the same version of Kies I'm on. Kies says it is up-to-date. One other funny thing; the firmware update for the phone used to say "you have the latest firmware", now it says, "this phone's firmware cannot be updated".

I have a Samsung captivate from AT&T. has anyone on the forum seen this update offered on their Captivate? the GPS performance is really not that great, and I'd hope that this update fixed it. I have the 1.5.1 version of Kies (with Windows 7 - 64bit) and had quite a bit of a hassle trying to connect it with my phone, although I did manage in the end (mentioned in a separate post on this forum). DO NOT USE it to sync calendar with outlook since it deleted all my calendar entries.

The issue with Kies and Outlook is a known issue. Samsung support have promised an update of Kies to address this issue is imminent.
I wonder what versions of the kernel people are running who get the JM1 update? I'm running root@SE-S602 #2 and I don't get the update.

Finally took the plunge and updated. Performance is faster and GPS lock is quicker. Managed to upload apps again fron Android market but, after I installed the last paid app all other installed apps not reinstalled disappeared from the list.

Hi, I have an O2 phone too, but have a virgin sim in it. My girlfriend has the same phone, but has the extra GPS icon in the notification area and the task manager, so I assume it is the new firmware, but her phone is locked to O2. I want to do the update, but am worried it will lock my phone to O2 too. Can someone please confirm that the phone is not locked after the update has been done? I am also having problems connecting to kies at the moment, my phone is in kies mode , but it won't see it ( so I can't see if the update is there), If i connect as mass storage, I can see the external storage in kies thats all
Thanks
