Well I finally got the FROYO 2.2 yesterday.  Although a long wait (for me), it is definitely worth the wait.  Just the AP alone has made life easier.....lollllll......I'm no longer confined to a local coffee shop, if I'm on the go.  Just an FYI, im in the USA on T-MO.

"this version of the device cannot be updated"

Means there is no update for your device.

But From what I have read, if you just try a fresh machines it may work.

Peace.

hi. I am based in FIJI Islands, i have purchased galaxy s GT i9000 from India 6 months ago. working excellent. I have recently updated my kies to 2.0 version. When i connect my device it shows new upgrade froyo 2.2. I am bit worried because FIJI is not registered on samsung site, also i have doubt if i got stuck in between in upgrading process, my phone will bricked and go useless. There is no service centre of samsung also available in fIJI. Wht should i do? pl. respond.. anyone.....

Hi,

there is another way to get your aim.
Pls. read this:[urlhttp://www.samsunggalaxysforum.com/samsung-galaxy-s-rooting/heimdall-the-guardian-general-introduction-to-flashing/][/url].
The way is a bit long but -I'm sure- you can cope with it.
