updated to 2.2.1 a few days ago and I'm finding the battery now only lasts 4 hours on minimum power settings. it used to last at least 12 with moderate use...

anyone else experience this?

just finished doing it when you posted, monitoring power consumption now with max power usage... looks good so far

...out of curiosity - what effect does a factory reset have on the system that it would effect power consumption (apart from removing apps and settings possibly?)?

Thanks for the reply.

Apps and settings are probably the main things that cause the system to go laggy and inefficient. Other than that, reset also cleans up stock app caches, making them more efficient as well. Just like when you first got your phone with zero apps and data on it.

cheers for the reply. So i've done the reset (via the 3 button combo) and no luck, battery is still dying very quickly. i installed android assistant (for its app power consumption monitor) and it looks like the stock email app is using the most power at 6% (of the power consumption of all apps).

I just killed this and am about to kill app by app to find the offender.

on the plus side the lag seems to be gone!! looking forward to gingerbreads release though.

gingerbread not available here yet(ireland??), not as of 5 minutes ago anyway! if anyone is interested, i pinpointed the battery drain to the stock email application, turned off the auto refresh and bam - battery at 70% after a full day of moderate use!
