I searched for the calendar program and its not available in my market either.

Updated my phone with the new firmware and it was very easy.
The nice part about it is I did not lose any of my data.
My wireless settings were still there, my email accounts and all my downloaded programs. It didn't erase anything.

Not sure what the updates are yet, still figuring if anything has changed but it definately runs faster and smoother....

Thanks Samsung,
Brian

I tried to update from 2.2 to 2.2.1 today and Kies told me:

Model Name: GT-I9000
Current Version: PDA:JPA / PHONE:JPA / CSC:JPA
This device's version cannot be updated.

Based on previous experience with Samsung software I'm wondering about a potential ambiguity here.  This could either mean "You already have the latest version available for your phone in this territory," OR it could mean "There is a problem that prevents your device from being updated."

Any ideas on which of the two options is likely to be the true meaning?

I'm running Kies 1.5.1.10074_2 and when I click the Update button it tells me that this is 'Already the latest version'.  My phone has never been rooted.

Thanks in advance for any help

I just updated and things seem okay but I have lost wallpapers!  One missing is the cafe/french scene.  Does anyone know how I get it back?

I just tried to make a firmware update (from 2.2) via Kies and got the same "This device's version cannot be updated" message as I mentioned above.  Can anyone give me some guidance in interpreting from 'Korean English'; i.e...

Does this mean "You already have the latest version available for your phone in this territory" ?

OR does it mean "There is a problem that prevents your device from being updated" ?

Thanks

can a rooted SGS with Froyo Asia rom be updated to 2.2.1 via Kies or need to use flashing software?
If use Kies to update to 2.2.1(official) would it mean losing root too?
thanks...

You have to see the improvements to be able to comprehend just how good this 2.2.1 update is:

Things were bad, but now they're good, FOREVER! Thank you Samsung!!!! THANK YOU!!!

hmm...when i connected Kies ver 2.0 to my rooted SGS, it did show that there was an update to JPE firmware...but think this is still Froyo 2.2....not 2.2.1 yet
maybe will still wait if samsung decides to release 2.2.1 in asia or gingerbread...Sticking out tongue

Can anyone help, I'm being offered the chance to upgrade to 2.2.1 via Kies (already upgraded to 2.2 last year) - the new Kies is rubbish, everytime I click to update it loses the connection to the phone, so I re-installed the old Kies, which STILL won't work, it gets to download binary files then says my device doesn't have sufficient battery power to continuue - which is rubbish because its fully charged, tried no end of times now & can't get anything to work, if anyone can help at all it would be great?

I want to love this phone I really do( can't fix the horid battery life) but 2.1 is not that good. From what I hear 2.2 or 2.2.1 is a vast improvement. How do I put this on my phone? Thanks. Kyle form Alaska USA
