YES IT HAS ARRIVED !!!

lol... i connected my phone and it said that there was an up date.
guys try this way of updating , for me there was no fuss and no hassles, even on a slow line.

1. connect to KIES

2. see the update message

3. click on tools and and Firmware update settings.
Click Automatically download firmaware for your phone ( your phone and phone number will be visible.)

4. leave your pc on and let it download while you do whatever you want. maybe even charge your phone so you have full battery power.

5. when it finishes downloading.... for me it was about 2 hours.... connect your phone and follow the instructions....

6. there you go you will have Gingerbread 2.3.3 ( for me its dxjv9)

---- i don't know if it makes a difference, but i am using the GT-I9000 with a digi sim.

smooth and snappy. thats the results after 10 mins of use.

best of luck.

Regards
Hamid

I am still on 2.2...with root and lagfix
do you have to remove lagfix before the update kicks in?
so after update , root has been removed?..what did u use to acquire root back?
thanks.
Only the lagfix should be disabled.

After upgrading to 2.3.3 I9000DXJV9, I noticed the following apps are broken:

3G Watchdog can't track data usage.  Always shows 0.
Aldiko 2.0 can't go past the first few pages.  The version that comes with Samsung works fine.
OSMonitor can't show CPU usage for each process.
APN on/off widget can't toggle data.

Anyone have the same issues?

yes..i've done the installation with turn it off and do recovery mode..RAM usage increased, but not much..battery usage depends on your phone usage..i think it is same as Froyo..better to do recovery mode..as it says in the link which i gave b4, "Doing this will not only optimize the battery but will also remove all the data flux from your phone."  Wink Wink

Factory reset is recommended.

Maybe because the fw is from another region. So you could flash with Odin.

Hi All, Singapore received the Gingerbread update the same day as Malaysia. I went down to a Samsung Service Centre and did the update.
Just want to check the experience of people who have updated to gingerbread.
I noticed my battery drains much faster now!
Usually after charging my battery to full at night before I go to bed, the battery will still show full the next morning.
But after upgrading, the battery drains to half the next morning!
And I am not running anything in the background.
Cheers!

After a "false alarm" last week on availability on Gingerbread (eventhough others managed to get it that via Kies), i fired up Kies this afternoon (again) and voila ! new version available and it took ~an hour for it.

Some comestics changes like new batt icon; smaller fonts; the return of water live wallpaper  Laugh ...etc.

Some Samsung widgets have been re-designed ...

RAM has been pump-up from 304MB -> 329MB upon restart.

Gingerbread 2.3.3
Version : PDA:JV9 / Phone:JV9 / CSC:JV9 (XME)
