Hi Im new here. Hopefully someone can help me. I successfully updated my device to froyo 2.2. Everything went well except for the contact list. I noticed that scroll on the right side some letters were missing even though there is an entry for that letter. example: Bart is entered in my contact list but the letter B does not appear in the scroll bar.

It's a Part of Froyo (2.2) Update... so no need to worry...  Sticking out tongue

I am also find same problem of missing letters in contacts.

i try to do it nw....bt do i need to do the so called hard reset as well????

in fact, what is actually the soft and hard reset???? sorry for this stupid question cause i really do not knw what is this....

No question is stupid, Every question has a purpose which is to increase one's knowledge.

If there were no questions there would be no science.

When Greeks saw the Mast first on the horizons before the ship itself. They asked why, it may be a "stupid" question at first but that led to one of the first hypotheses that the world must the round.

As for your question,

The difference is minor.

The Hard Reset is done via the Hardware keys. Or rather it's triggered by a hardware switch.

The soft reset is triggered by Software Switch.

Usually the Hard Reset kills everything, but for some reason the Soft reset in Android does the job better. Maybe some glitch.

Both the Hard Reset and the Soft Reset are supposed to wipe the System Partition and Restore factory Defaults (Like new).

I would like to say I like to answer questions, but I am human and not perfect so sometimes I may seem annoyed, but that is just life. Don't worry ask away. (It does help if you use the search button too)

Peace.

I have it unlocked on fido , the last thing I want is to update it to 2.2 and do a reset and find that it is once again locked and i'm not unable to retrieve the keys because of a update from samsung . Hopefully they didn't patch that in the froyo. Anyon have a answer?

Reset does not lock your phone to your carrier if it is unlocked.

I am not sure, I am guessing you used some software to Unlock your locked phone. Correct?

Check if the same software is available for Froyo.

I think I saw something in the Market for locked SGS in Froyo. But I don't remember.

If you bought the phone unlocked then follow what Casz said. They have no right to lock the phone if you bought it unlocked.

hi all,

I've updated my phone to 2.2.

but since that, i'm facing a new problem with my phone.

My phone is a bit laggy, and a it slow than 2.1, but supposely as claim by android, 2.2 should be 5x faster than 2.1..

so what i do, i'll go to program monitor, than clear memory level 2..the phone will close most of the background apps..but after a few while, my phone will start laggy and slow again..

anybody can advise me on this??

thank you very much..

What method did you use?

If you used the registry hack you have nothing to fear.

As per what I know The Letters are not Missing... they were made that way to Fit entire A-Z, they purposely skipped sum letters so that entire A-Z can be seen ON Screen...
As matter of fact letters  "B, E, H, K, N, Q, T and W" are not present they all are replace by (dot) "." on my phone too, I believe it would be same on your phone too...
So I am sure that your phone is perfectly fine and enjoy the update to Andriod 2.2 on your phone...

Shlonek brother.

Well on first boot it takes a while to boot into android but it shouldn't take more than 5 mins if it does then, you have two options from what I understand, well three (paper weight).

First choice give it under warranty. (If you are not comfortable with second choice I think this will be safer for you).

Second Choice Odin get any firmware or one that you like. You are done, but if you want to keep it official, what you can do from here on is just do a registry hack, set it to official Eclairs build for Kuwait (I have this if you want). From here on all you need to do is reupdate and make sure it's not lag-fixed. Root does not matter.

Everything is in the forums just use the search button.

For second option Search for Odin and Registry Hack.

Peace.
