Hi Saszseb

1)What to you mean when you say " make a hard reset after you flashed the code"? Flashed what code?

2) What are the chances of me bricking my phone when i update to gingerbread with odin?

3) Are there any issues you know of with the gingerbread version that you provided me with?

4) Is there any way to unbrick my phone without a Backup with ClockworkMod?

Thanx

Where did you read this?
1. code=ROM
After upgrade your phone will reboot and the first step is doing a factory reset.
2. 0,0000000000000000000000000000001%, if you go with my guide.
3. Hmm. I don't think there is.
4. To brick the phone: Battery is only 5-20 % and you starts to flash a ROM. You unplug the cable during the flashing-process. The 3 button combo dosn't work and you go to download mode using ADB.
To unbrick the phone: use guide!+ charge the battery fully up+backup your data via Titanium Backup and do a nandroid backup.

Hi Saszeb

Ok i am just going to flash gingerbread 2.3.3 without a rom backup because iam unable to do it. Just one more last confomation from you please.

1) I dont want to re-partition, so: 1)leave out pit file
2)make sure only auto reboot and f. reset time is ticked off
3)tick off PDA and select PDA.tar file
                                               4) tick off phone and select Phone.tar file
5)tick off CSC and select CSC.tar file
All 3 files i select from the file(GT_I9000_XXJVO_XXJVO_OXAJVO) that i downloaded from the link you provided.

2)There was  also a link yoou provided with ODin +pit, i downloaded and extracted it. The file is ALL-CSC-MD5. With alot of CSC I9000 xxxxx.tar file. I dont use that?????

3) I start odin, select the files above(1). Turn off my phone. Wait 1 minute. Press Volume down, home button and power button untill phone show download mode. Then i connect usb to computer, And check that 1st box turns yellow with com. xxx. Then i press start button . wait till process is finished and show green pass. Phone will reboot and start up. only the do i remove usb cable. Is all in (3) correct?

4) must i remove my sim and external memory card , and do a factory reset before flashing with odin?

5) After flashing with odin to gingerbread do another factory reset?

Thanx and sorry for all the stupid questions over and over.

Hi Saszeb

1)So there wont be any problems with my sim in the phone?  No, it won't.
2)My phone was carrier or network locked to TMN Portugal. I paid to have it unlocked . And i am using a Vodafone sim now. Will it be a problem? I typed in the code you provided me and all locks are off.  No. All off means, your SIM is unlocked.
3) I travel  to Namibia, in Africa. will my phone work in Namibia with an MTC(local Namibian carrier after i flashed to gingerbread?  You should buy a local SIM.
4) The version of gingerbread i am going to flash is a universal europeun version? It's meant for Europe.
5) There wont be any TMN application on my phone after i flashed the gingerbread rom? No, it won't. For this reason do a backup via TB (Pro).
6) And the from my previous post of my Odin3. Please supply me with the correct version of Odin3 for My Galaxy S GT-I9000 whitch i bought here in Portugal?

Thank you. Waiting for your reply so that i can flash.

Highly doubt you will see Honeycomb on the SGS.

Honeycomb is officially only for Tablets and very well may stay that way.

I do think they will eventually release the Honeycomb version for handsets or Handsets may skip to Icecream altogether eitherway there is a very very low chance Honeycomb will come for SGS. IMHO Gingerbread may be the last update the SGS will see.

I give kudos to Samsung for supporting it like they did. From 2.1 to 2.3.4 very nice indeed, they may support it a little while longer.

Peace.
