Can anyone please confirm if froyo for the galaxy s has arrived in india or not ? Also, are we ever gonna get an ota update ? My friend who has an htc desire has a "check for updates" option in his settings, so he got his update ota. How would we even get ota without such a fundamental feature ? For some of us, it's not exactly convenient to update through kies.....

That being said, this is my only issue with the phone... Other than that, I just couldn't be more satisfied with it! :-)

Okay. But shouldn't samsung also provide an ota update like other companies ? Yesterday I saw my friend's xperia mini having the check for updates option... And I was effin' insulted! c'mon samsung!!

Last year while I was in delhi, I was looking for a sim card. I wanted 3G for my one week trip so I went around to inquire who would have it. I think I had my N97, it wasn't even released there then. Anyway after asking around I found out no one knew what I was on about. The general response was pointing me to a 3G usb modem so I can connect it to my PC. I inquired if it work on my phone and got blank stares. I went to all the major (well most) operators. I will not list them you know them if you know them.

But I don't blame the employees it's always been like that in India, stuff just comes late there. Some try to sincerely try to help you but they just don't know it.

I had a friend who worked at a call center damn did he hate it. Be courteous when you call a call center remember they are humans as well.

As for the update if you want it that bad there are ways you can have it now. If you want to wait for the official release just wait. Keyword being wait. Forums is littered with when will froyo be out. everyone knows it will be out when it will be out. Which is before the end of the month.

My Friend iron singh,
I'm sorry to differ from your point of view.since last 2 years bsnl is providing 3g service in india.i think you got dates wrong because it's been more than 1 year when I discarded my n97 after using it for 4 months, in short I differ here .I'm only telling you which I found to be wrong.nothing putting to dispute

this post has been removed - cass_m

Please watch your language, and explain your problem. You also have to notice that samsung doesn't read these forums.

It failed thrice. The error happens when downloading the extracted file to device after decryption. I am using Wi-Fi for this firmware update.
