Now let see how it performs, took around 40mins to complete from clicking the Upgrade button. I have Upgraded it over the OLD system... NO Factory data reset yet...  Eyes Rolling

Since you didn't respond to the question I will assume you don't know what lag fix is and therefore don't have it installed.

Can you try and mount your Phone in USB Mass Storage Mode and try to copy something onto the phone?

No portable wifi hotspot

I love descriptive posts.

Leaves room for so much imagination.

I mean I am now thinking why would you say that.

There are two things that come to mind.

Are you making an Assumption that the Froyo android doesn't Support Wifi tethering?

Or maybe the thing doesn't work for you so you just want us to know.

Well if you think there is no wifi tethering than I would have to burst your bubble. It works, I can use it and so there is the proof.

If it's the latter then sorry to hear about it. How has you day been?  HUH?

If you didn't catch the sarcasm I am spelling it out.

If you are having problems be more descriptive. what do you mean by what you said, is it connecting but your not able to surf? Are you able to surf on the phone in normal mode?
What computer did you try it on? Did you try it on other Devices? Give more details, the more the better.

Finally I did the FACTORY DATA RESET after almost 24hrs of Upgrade to 2.2... Wink Wink there wasn't any major Lag or problem after upgrading to 2.2 but NOW the phone feel and Handles Bit better and is Bit smoother... Wink Wink
So let me take this opportunity to advice you to Do the Factory Data Reset after or just before the Upgrade, it really helps... as IronSingh had mentioned Clean or Fresh Installs are the Best One... thanks for ur such Valuable advice...

what was the error message.

Error Messages are so important. Please don't tell me you didn't write it down.

If you didn't write it down can you try and reproduce the error and post it here.

Hi,

I need help. I have Galaxy S Indian version I9000DDJG4 for all three PDA/Phone/CSC.

After reading on these forums that 2.2 froyo is now available in India, I tried upgrading but failed to do so after the download completed, with that Yellow Android digging logo. And the error on Kies was "Failed to convert to upgrade mode". Did a lot of googling and tried most of the options, like driver recovery, reinstalling driver package and stuff. But no good and tried three times with the same result. I thought I might have screwed up the old OS as well as it suggested the recovery mode, but all is working fine even after three tries, it still give me the option to recover, but I have not done it as I could not get the phone started up in the recovery mode by the method mentioned (Home+Volume Down+Power).

As I have windows running on linux in VirtualBox I thought that could be the problem, so did a fresh Kies install at work in both Windows XP and 7, but now it gives me the error "This device's version cannot be updated".

I have seen many posts with similar issues but not solid solution. I called up service center guy and he claims froyo has not yet been released in India which I obviously differ.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Cybeh

Back it up to Google.

Goto Contacts -> Settings -> Export Contacts to SD.

Then copy this file to your Computer.

Or Go back to the Menu and click Import then Select Google.

Steps maybe a little off because this is from the top of my head.

Peace.
