It failed thrice. The error happens when downloading the extracted file to device after decryption. I am using Wi-Fi for this firmware update.
My Kite Version is : 1.5.3.10103_102

Yes there have been issues when trying to update via wifi. Try connecting directly with the cable.

I guess it has something to do with reliability. Wifi is not as solid as the cable so error rate is a bit higher, and since this a sensitive update they (samsung) don't wanna take chances.

But if that were the case a simple checksum should have sufficed. Well welcome to the "Disapointed with Kies Club".

Do tell how it went.

It worked well with wired connection.I don't care about other things as long as it works well Wink Wink. I was slightly disappointed about Samsung as they discarded India till the last minute. Also I dn't feel much difference between 2.1 and 2.2. Hopefully the bugs in 2.1 is addressed in current release.

hi all,

update to FroYo went off well without any glitch using Kies...
upgraded from PDA/Phone/CSC all JG4 to
JP6/JP2/JP5 respectively...

so it seems FroYo is officially available in India..

it took about 40 minutes...

shall report if there is anything amiss...

sragoo Laugh

Edit: The phone could not recognise an adhoc network.. so had to root the phone and fix the problem... having lag problems though...

Did you buy the phone in India? I don't know about each code but your code doesn't look like the India one. You will have to wait until it is released where you bought it from.

There are ways to force it but those are at your risk. If you are interested search the forums for Odin and registry hack.

Peace.

Damn I lost the post I just wrote.

Ok one more try.

You have two options either trick it again with old Kies.

Or use Odin to get a 2.1 Firmware that is confirmed for update. There are a lot of firmwares in the rooting And Hacking section.

Please note that you will do this at your own risk.
