Guys,

Is this FROYO? PDA: JPA / PHONE: JPA / CSC: JPA

I think official FROYO from Samsung is currently available because my KIES stated got new firmware available for our Galaxy S.

Upgrading it now...



Guys,

I just managed to update my SGS to FROYO.

During my updating process, it goes all well. But during the final stage of the installation process, the phone needed to be auto re-start, so the usual Samsung Animation + Sound appears, but it just stuck on that screen, but at the same time, the colorful 'S' logo was still running @ shinning colour running up and down.

At this time, my SGS is still connected to USB. I waited for around 5 minutes, then only the phone enters into the main screen.

So if you guys encounter the same thing, just keep on waiting. We might be thinking that the phone 'hang' or 'freezed' and we might thinking to manually force re-start the phone, and that might hampered the final installation process and might brick your phone.

@ong5577,

Are you able to connect to mass storage mode? Is your Kies connection problem is stuck at "connecting device" on Kies?

If your mass storage mode is working, try to put it to media mode, then a pop up on your Window screen ask you what to do, you choose open folder and select default. Then try reconnecting to Kies again (remember to change to Kies mode first). Don't open Kies first, connect your device, if successful, a pop up will appear like in media mode, choose open folder and click default. Then open Kies. If that pop up appear then Kies should connect successfully.

Not sure if is it just me, but I noticed that FROYO default internet browser, not so smooth when scrolling webpage compared to Enclair default internet browser.

But I would say, overall handset speed performance did improves, but intermittent, means sometimes you can feel it is faster when opening/execute an application, or when open My Gallery. But then again, the performance is not consistent, you might experience lag from time to time.

But all these are experiencing from my handset.

Because now the browser is a full fledged browser. And this is still a mobile phone. Try disable the plug in. then it will be faster. Playing flash on stock browser is not that smooth compare to pc.
I need Voodoo, then it should be faster and smoother.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. And by the way, anyone know whether RyanZA's OCLF 2.0 by Kryptyx can be use to Root Froyo ?

I need to run few applications that requires a rooted phone.

The only successful method where I achieved root was by SuperOneClick.

Hey can u tell us the step by stepp procedure? ur step above are not very clear..i dont understand the part which u said ''open folder and select default''? which part? hmpphh..hope u can reply it a.s.a.p and i would like to try ur step..if it works i would love to share it to the world.. Happy

just got my SGS...started it up, connected to Kies...wow...upgrade notification pops up...proceeded to download binaries..1/2hour later...SGS with Froyo!!... Big Smile
