My SGS is now lagging/freezing/hanging all over the place. Is rooting & applying oclf the only solution??? Tia :-)

This is usually attributed when you apply the upgrade over an old setup. I recommend Backing up your data and soft reset.

This cures most problems that are reported matching your description.

Be warned Reset will make you loose your data.

Then if you are still facing lag you can apply Root and Lag Fix but try the above option first. As Upgrading from an old OS always leaves messy config files. Clean Install is always recommended.
