Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. really appreciate on your advise n sharing.

I'm not so sure whether my SGS is a singapore set, but it has a Singtel word in my SGS, so I assume it is a singapore set. The problem is, when I managed to connect to kies, and click on the 'Firmware upgrade', then this message appears

Current version : PDA:JF4 / PHONE:JF4 / CSC:OLB
This device's version cannot be updated.

I have no idea about this. when I compared on Omnian screen shot, my phone CSC:OLB is a bit weird, does it suppose to CSC:JF4 instead, rite?

anybody ever faced this situation, really appreciate on your sharing...
I am from Singapore, the first batch of Singtel sets had a bug that made them unrecognisable on kies. Your only hope is to either
1) Flash to JG4 manually using odin using the correct pit . then flash to JPA WITHOUT a pit file
2) Go to singapore service center to get it flash.

Let me know if you need help flashing, it's quite simple, just that you need to backup your apps and data, I recommend titanium root for apps+data, and for sms, up to you to find what you like

@Loba

Thanks for the info..
maybe you can share how to flash to JG4 coz i'm really new to this phone..  Crying  Crying

Go google and download odin 1.3, google for pit 513 as well. Download mode is accessed by holding down volume down menu and on button and releasing on button when it boots up.

When you reach the download mode, connect usb and open odin 1.3
upgrade to DXJG4; use pit 513, re-partition checked
(after reboot and back to Home, screen lock) go to download mode again
now you can upgrade to DXJPA; no pit file required, re-partition unchecked

here's the links for firmware image,

Hi all,

Like sn0wjie, I went to SSC and got my update within an hour. No questions asked. Just one question, I checked "About phone" settings and it states 2.6.32.9 root@SE-604 #1 under Kernel version. Does that mean my phone is already rooted and I don't have to root before applying the lagfix?

Thanks!

@omnian,

can u help me to update to froyo? i dont care what it takes, i want froyo..froyo..froyo...  Angry  Angry

There will be a way for you to get Froyo, but I'm suggesting the safest method first.

1 ) Have you tried my suggestion from the first part of the first post (# 120) on this page?

2 ) Is there any SSC near you, in KL? Do you know Lowyat?

3 ) Any chance you or your relative/friends are visiting Singapore?

4 ) If No to all the above and you don't mind "Not so official" method, we'll go the Odin way as suggested by Loba.
4 i) Flash to JG4 by Odin, then update to JPA by Kies.
4 ii) Flash directly to JPA by Odin.

No problem, that's the Odin method suggested by Loba and the link given by knight.

Glad that it worked for you.

For other 1st batch singapore galaxy s sets,

Instead of fooling around with odin and what nots, here's a window apps that tricks kies into patching straight to JPA from kies:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628

All you need now is your phone, latest kies and this neat little windows program to patch kies. out with odin and downloading of firmware manually =)

P.S. I'm Loba not Lobo btw Wink Wink
